Marian was born January 5, 192p in Stratford, Ontario and later moved to Goderich, where she discovered a lifelong passion for knitting while earning income for her family during the Great Depression. Another move to Seaforth introduced Marian to her future husband, Angus, and they had many happy times togeth- er until the outbreak of the Second World War. Marian supported the war effort by working in the Seaforth shoe factory until her husband's safe return. Marian was honoured for her tireless efforts as a volunteer for the Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Anglican Church Women's Association. She could often be found assisting in local politics, the Home and School Association or the Children's Aid Society. Marian resided in Mount Forest, Etobicoke and Kitchener before returning to Seaforth, where she continued to provide a cheery smile and a help- ing hand to her extended family and many friends. A memorial service to celebrate Marian's life was held on Friday, February 27, 2004 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, John Street, Seaforth, at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon followed. Rev. Family members, relatives, neighbours and friends gathered at the local Knights of Columbus Hall for a surprise gathering for Sheri Cronin, hosted by her husband, Larry and daughter, Dawn with some help from her sisters. The celebration was for a "special" birthday. Wearing a cowboy hat decorated with candy suckers and carrying a sign reading "40 sucks." Sheri insisted that she was really "29 again." An evening of visiting was enjoyed by all. Kevin Cronin enjoyed the company of his family and friends who helped him celebrate his "third" Feb. 29 birthday with a get together and movies. Parishioners at St. Columban parish are gearing up for a St. Patrick's Day celebration by sponsoring a St. Paddy's Warm -Up Party with igro' dance on March 6 in Seaforth. Locals, Dave and Sharon Kelly, son and daughter of Don and Irene Kelly, will entertain with their Celtic rock band "Steerage." Don and Rita Moylan have returned from a recent vacation. During a four day stay in Florida, they toured the Kennedy Space Center and viewed the launching pads for the space ships from the observation tower. Embarking from Port Canaveral, Florida, on the luxury liner. "Carnival Glory," a I 3 -level cruise ship accommodating 3,100 guests and 1 , 100 staff members, they enjoyed a cruise experience. For the Moylans, it was a unique experience which they thoroughly enjoyed. Patsy and Frank Crowley, Elaine and Gerry Vanden Hengcl and Mary Lou and Pat Jordan travelled to Kitchener. Waterloo to visit with their sister, Jean and Brian Harris and family. Students at St. Columban School celebrated Ash Wednesday this past' week with mass at St. Patrick's Church in Dublin presided by Father Moe ChaYbonneau. All of the students have recently participated in making and giving speeches. At the school level, Thomas Murray topped the juvenile division with a speech called "Asking Questions:" Jordan Visser placed second with a speech "About My Dad"; and Megan Carlow gavean informative talk about "N.A.S.A.' which took third place. Carolyn Murray topped the senior division with talk on "Laughter"; Janelle Murray placed second talking about "The Gond Old Days"; and Kelsey Flanagan's speech about "Brothers and Sisters" took third place. First and second place in both divisions went on to compete at the Mitchell Legion where Janelle Murray came first and Carolyn Murray second. Janelle Murray will go on to compete at the Exeter Legion. The same speeches competed in the O.E.C.T.A. division where Thomas Murray came first in his division. Janelle Murray came first in her division and Carolyn Murray second. Predeceased by her parents, Albert William and Effie LaRose (Palmer) Moore; a brother, Jack (1986) and two children in infancy. Marian was born January 5, 192p in Stratford, Ontario and later moved to Goderich, where she discovered a lifelong passion for knitting while earning income for her family during the Great Depression. Another move to Seaforth introduced Marian to her future husband, Angus, and they had many happy times togeth- er until the outbreak of the Second World War. Marian supported the war effort by working in the Seaforth shoe factory until her husband's safe return. Marian was honoured for her tireless efforts as a volunteer for the Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Anglican Church Women's Association. She could often be found assisting in local politics, the Home and School Association or the Children's Aid Society. Marian resided in Mount Forest, Etobicoke and Kitchener before returning to Seaforth, where she continued to provide a cheery smile and a help- ing hand to her extended family and many friends. A memorial service to celebrate Marian's life was held on Friday, February 27, 2004 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, John Street, Seaforth, at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon followed. Rev. Family members, relatives, neighbours and friends gathered at the local Knights of Columbus Hall for a surprise gathering for Sheri Cronin, hosted by her husband, Larry and daughter, Dawn with some help from her sisters. The celebration was for a "special" birthday. Wearing a cowboy hat decorated with candy suckers and carrying a sign reading "40 sucks." Sheri insisted that she was really "29 again." An evening of visiting was enjoyed by all. Kevin Cronin enjoyed the company of his family and friends who helped him celebrate his "third" Feb. 29 birthday with a get together and movies. Parishioners at St. Columban parish are gearing up for a St. Patrick's Day celebration by sponsoring a St. Paddy's Warm -Up Party with igro' dance on March 6 in Seaforth. Locals, Dave and Sharon Kelly, son and daughter of Don and Irene Kelly, will entertain with their Celtic rock band "Steerage." Don and Rita Moylan have returned from a recent vacation. During a four day stay in Florida, they toured the Kennedy Space Center and viewed the launching pads for the space ships from the observation tower. Embarking from Port Canaveral, Florida, on the luxury liner. "Carnival Glory," a I 3 -level cruise ship accommodating 3,100 guests and 1 , 100 staff members, they enjoyed a cruise experience. For the Moylans, it was a unique experience which they thoroughly enjoyed. Patsy and Frank Crowley, Elaine and Gerry Vanden Hengcl and Mary Lou and Pat Jordan travelled to Kitchener. Waterloo to visit with their sister, Jean and Brian Harris and family. Students at St. Columban School celebrated Ash Wednesday this past' week with mass at St. Patrick's Church in Dublin presided by Father Moe ChaYbonneau. All of the students have recently participated in making and giving speeches. At the school level, Thomas Murray topped the juvenile division with a speech called "Asking Questions:" Jordan Visser placed second with a speech "About My Dad"; and Megan Carlow gavean informative talk about "N.A.S.A.' which took third place. Carolyn Murray topped the senior division with talk on "Laughter"; Janelle Murray placed second talking about "The Gond Old Days"; and Kelsey Flanagan's speech about "Brothers and Sisters" took third place. First and second place in both divisions went on to compete at the Mitchell Legion where Janelle Murray came first and Carolyn Murray second. Janelle Murray will go on to compete at the Exeter Legion. The same speeches competed in the O.E.C.T.A. division where Thomas Murray came first in his division.
