THE HURON EXPOSITOR, FEBRUARY 10, 2004-9 News Huron OPP's snowmobile patrol spend weekend travelling trails A 27 -year-old Huron East man was charged with driving a snowmobile with over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood on Vanastra Road in Bluewater on Feb. 11 at 11:30 p.m. The snowmobiler was stopped while driving a 2004 Arctic Cat by the two-man • OPP patrol and found to have alcohol on his breath. He failed the roadside alcotest and was taken for breath tests, which revealed he was driving with twice the amount of alcohol allowed. Huron OPP's snowmobile patrol spent the weekend travelling trails in Huron East and South Huron, stopped 58 sleds and charged three drivers. Two men were issued summons for driving a snowmobile with no insurance while a third was charged with failing to carry insurance with him. Eight others were issued warnings about other trail problems. The two-man OPP snowmobile team has been patrolling the trails throughout Huron County, finding that excessive speed and drinking and driving are the two biggest problems on the trail. Mail carrier escapes car fire Monday's mail was late arriving to residents on Bridge Road and Beechwood Line after a fire destroyed the vehicle a mail carrier was driving. The Seaforth Area Fire Department responded to the car fire at the home of Don Kelly, on the corner of Bridge Road and Beechwood Linc near St. Columban, on Monday, shortly after 11 a.m. The local snail carrier, who preferred to be unnamed, was delivering inail to the Kelly home when the vehicle she had borrowed from a friend, got stuck in driveway. While attempting to free the vehicle, a Silver Dodge Intrepid, the engine over- heated and caught on fire but the driver was able to save the mail. Tom Phillips, acting chief, said the fire department remained on the scene for an hour but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
