Campbells teach
youth they can
make a difference
From Page 1
lemonade stands, vegetable gardens, dog -walking businesses,
friendship bracelet making businesses and hot dog stands.
"We didn't think we'd get all the money back but we did.
Some of them tried things that didn't work but all of them
tried," she says.
One of the younger children had a one -day hotdog stand at
a trailer park and made $70.
"A little kid who's 50 pounds soaking wet showed what
you can do," says Mark.
After a vote of all the participants, the youth group decided
to donate the money to the Ontario Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) shelter in
Goderich.
"Mark's and Susan's faith in the children was returned ten-
fold. They realized what talents they had and how they could
make a difference in the world and all because of the faith of
two of Seaforth's biggest hearts - Mark and Susan Campbell,"
says the letter from the Trotters.
The Campbells are looking forward to funding the project
again next year.
"I'd like to see what they could do now that they've gotten
a few more ideas. Some of the kids are already saying how
they could pick a different corner for their yard sale next
year," says Mark.
While the junior youth group meets the third Thursday of
every month, the senior group meets more sporadically. But,
Susan has big plans for the senior group.
"Because they're older, they can do a little more. I'd like to
get them involved in a trip to a soup kitchen in Toronto or
involved in a Habitat for Humanity project," she says.
The Campbells say they couldn't be as involved in the
youth groups as they are without the help of friends and
family to babysit their three children and help with the
groups.
"We're blessed that we have friends and family that
reciprocate," says Susan.
And, while the Trotters praise the Campbells for having
time to drop off baking after a family member's recent
surgery, Susan and Mark say it's just logical to help out when
you can.
"We're just very fortunate that my job is farming so I have
a flexible schedule and I'm home a lot. I can do the chores
when I need to - it's not a straight 10 -hour day," says Mark.
"I still think of what more we can do," says Susan. "I can
bake cookies and take them to a neighbour. You can always
help. If I have the time, why wouldn't I?"

bridge
Huron OPP are looking for
two young men who were
seen Feb. 11 at 6 a.m. in
McKillop dragging away the
barricade closing the Grieves
Road bridge behind a pick-
up truck.
Huron East Public Works
Coordinator John Forrest got
a call at 6:15 a.m. from the
wife of the man who watched
the barricade being dragged
down the road.
"He thought it was a picnic
table at first but it was the
barricade from the closed
bridge," said Forrest.
Forrest found the barricade
on Hensall Road at 8 a..m.
and replaced it by 10 a.m.
after making repairs to it.
"The potential of someone
driving onto the bridge and
being seriously injured or
killed was there," said a
Huron OPP police report.
Police also learned that
several mailboxes on the

when the same pick-up truck
hooked a chain onto them
