The County Club 482-7064 Sports Judges impressed with new sound system at Seaforth competition From Ptd 1 And, Shaelyn Ward also received a bronze medal in the senior ladies category. Other Seaforth winners included: Alex Zaple, fourth in preliminary ages 11 and older; Lisa Melady, sixth in preliminary, ages yl 1 and older; Sarah Dolmage, seventh in Canskate, age eight Group 1; Julie Vincent, seventh in Canskate, age eight Group 2; Nicole Chisholm, seventh, in Canskate, age eight Group 3; and Laura Delchiaro, seventh in preliminary, ages 12 and older. The Seaforth club has not hosted the competition since 1994 because, Ward said, the arena did not have the proper sound system. "The new sound system was fantastic. The judges and the D.J. were very impressed and looking forward to coming back again," she said. She added the hard work to raise $14,000 for a new sound system in the arena, that was installed in September, was well recognized. Ward said the club also avoided another barrier of whether they would have judges for the interclub competition. "I think Skate Canada is working on solving that problem. There should be more judges becoming available and competitions should then not have to combine to make up for any lack of judges," she said. Also, Ward said most clubs in the north region have built new arenas and wolild have all liked to host the competition, which is alternated yearly between the 14 clubs in the north region. The north region includes clubs in Lucknow, Listowel, Clinton, Goderich and Mitchell. "The clubs are entitled to host the competition two years in a row, so we will be hosting it again next year. But I know the following year the clubs will be competing to host the competition just as we had to," she said. Next year, Ward said if Skate Canada completes the plans to create a power competition, it will be interesting to see the criteria," she said. "Hopefully we could be one of the first clubs to host the competition." The Seaforth club has 75 members, including those in power skating, both males and females, between the ages of three and 19. Ward said the club is also in need of volunteers and THE HURON EXPOSITOR, FEBRUARY 4, 2004-13 Hwy. 8, Seaforth 527-0180 "Hey Pizza Bob...
