42 Deaths
CHURCHWARD, Gordon Edwin
Francis (Gord): 02 September
1921 - 30 January 2004. Gord will
be missed by his wife of 59 years,
Lois (nee Henderson); children
Sandi Churchward Venne, Joanne
Churchward-Little and Dale
Churchward; grandchildren Ryan,
Tyler, Amanda and Emmy; sons-in-
law Wayne Venne and David Little,
and daughter-in-law Cathy Clark.
The family acknowledges the end-
less love between Gord and Lois.
Gord served in the Merchant Navy
in World War II and received
Awards for Service, including the
1939-45, Atlantic, Burma and Italy
Stars; the C.V.S.M. and Clasp; and
the War Medal 1939-45. He was
First Radio Officer on the
Lafontaine Park and the Outremont
Park. Gord began his post-war
career as a builder in Toronto; he
built the family home in north
Toronto In 1949, and he and Lois
lived in it until 1995. Gord estab-
lished his own business,
Churchward Overhead Doors, and
later expanded the business and
changed the name to Collett-
Churchward. While he delayed his
retirement a number of times, he
finally gave in to family pressure in
1997. Gord had many interests. He
Chaired the Little Toronto Hockey
League in the late 60s and early
70s. He served as President and
Director of the Canadian Door
Institute (CDI), as National Director
of the Door and Operator Dealers
Association (DODA), and was a
member of the International Door
Association. Gord was also an
enthusiastic sailor, debater, geneal-
ogist, and reader of vintage Dick
Francis. He was also a Trudeau
Liberal. We know that Gord would
wish to ackowiedge the thoughtful
and thorough medical attention that
he received in London, from
Doctors Inculet and Kocha, and in
Seaforth, from Doctor Shepherd
and the nurses, staff and Hospice
Volunteers at the Seaforth
Community Hospital. Visitors were
received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on
Sunday, 01 February, at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, 87
Goderich St. West, in Seaforth,
Ontario. The funeral service was
held at 1 p.m. on Monday 02
February, at the Northside Unifed
Church, 54 Goderich St. West, also
In Seaforth. Condolences may be
forwarded to dchurchwardOsym-
patico.ca or to www.whitneyribeyfu-
neralhome.com. The family would
appreciate, in lieu of flowers, that
you consider a donation to a local
food bank. 42-06-1

46. In Memoriam
GLANVILLE, Fred: In loving mem-
ory of my dear husband, who
passed away 3 years ago, Feb. 9,
2001.
Someone I love is in Heaven Lord,
I think you'll know his name.
He went to you three years ago,
And left me in such pain.
I treasure the time I had with him,
I know he was only lent,
And I had to give him back to you.
Because he was from Heaven sent.
This angel's name is Fred, Lord,
He meant the world to me,
So keep him close beside you, now,
For one day that's where I'll be.
Let the stars be your candles, Fred,
Keep them buming bright,
So when I look to Heaven,
I'll know that you're alright.
And rest in peace now Fred,
But please remember this,
1 love you dearly and from my life,
You are very sorely missed.
-Forever loved and sadly missed by
your family and wife Vi. 46-06x1

husband, father and grandfather
Maurice who passed away Feb. 8,

He's so happy, all is so bright,
There is perfect joy and beauty,
In that everlasting light.
All his pain and grief is over,
All his weaknesses are past,
He is now at peace forever,
Safety home in Heaven at last.
