Dorothy Taylor'looked after the Sunday School. Al Hoggarth and Harry Smith received the offering. The during previous week, Tracy Whitson- Bahro was the minister with Joyce Pepper playing the organ. The offering was received by Harry Smith. At Hensall U,#ited Church the service began with welcome and announcements followed by the Passing of the Peace. Chuck Mallette was the organist with Doug and Judi Walker looking after the ushering duties. Lillian Beer greeted the worshippers. Fred Darke's message was "A Different Kind of Baptism." Cecil Pepper read the scripture lesson. Upcoming events at Hensall News Hensall United Church are a Dessert Euchre on Feb. 4, an Irish Stew on March 10 and the Annual Meeting on Jan. 25. The PCW of Carmel Presbyterian Church held their January meeting with Marilyn Campbell presiding. Marilyn opened the meeting with welcome and a poem. Margaret Varley conducted a meaningful worship service with Dorothy Taylor playing the piano for the hymn - sing. The PCW will host a homemade soup, sandwich, and dessert luncheon on March 4. The next regular meeting of the Hensall South Huron Agricultural Society will be held on Jan. 26 in the auditorium of the Hensall and District Community Centre at 7pm. The annual meeting of the Hensall and Community Horticultural Society will be held on Jan. 22 at 7ptn at Hensall United Church. Shari Robinson will be the guest speaker and will display her hooked mats and also answer questions on new gardening methods she has used at home. The Society is also looking for volunteers to fill executive and director positions. If anyone is interested, please phone 262-2715. St. Michael's Catholic Secondary school hosts poverty awareness trip Once again, St. Michael's Catholic Secondary School is hosting a poverty awareness trip to the Dominican Republic. Students are collecting supplies, toiletries, children's toys, infant and children's clothing to take with them for distribution. Donations can be left in the boxes at the entrance of either church in Dublin or Mitchell. For further information, please call Sarah Van Loon 345-2926. Two Dublin boys, Deklan Cronin and Alan . Sinnamon, were recently recognized as carriers of the week in the Stratford Beacon Herald for delivering the daily paper for two and a half years. A euchre and rikken resumed on Jan. 14 at St. Patrick's church hall and will be held each Wednesday, from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. THOUGHT FOR TODAY • The difference between an optimist and a pessimist is that the optimist stays up New Year's Eve to see the new year in and the pessimist stays up to make sure the old one left.
