boon seriously ill is very much im-

fined to her home through illness
but is slowly improving.

Mr. Fred Heaman, who is attend-
ing college at Ann Arbor, Mich., was
home for a few days last week.
Mrs. Wm. Andrew and son George
have returned home after spending
the summer at Hamiota, Man.
Mrs. J. A. Stewart returned home
Saturday after visiting for a week
with Mrs. F issette, of Brantford.
The stores have started to decor-
ate for Christmas and the early
shopper is already making selec-
tions.
Mr. Douglas Stewart, of Windsor,
is spending a few days in town with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
Stewart.
Mrs. Wallace, of Simcoe, addres-
sed the various Sunday Schools of
town on the temperance question on
Sunday.•
Mr. Clarence Morley, of Chicago,
visited with his parents, Mr. and
alas. John Morley for a few days
during the week.
Mrs. Wm. Hi11, of Flint, Mich., is
visiting her father, Mr. Thos Elliott
of Kirkton, and her brothers Thos.

Mrs. Harp Rivers, who underwent
an operation for nasal trouble at
Victoria Hospital, London, returned
home on Saturday -last.
Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Newell .and
son and Miss Stella Gregory of
Stratford, were Sunday guests with
Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Creech.
Mrs. F. A. May is visiting in Mit-
chell on account of the serious ill-
ness of her mother, Mrs. W. R.
Davis.
Mrs. J. Willis, Powell and Miss
Marion, who have been under quar-
antine with scarlet fever, and who
have been in Wingham since, have
returned home.
Mr. Wm. Dew, of Wales, N.D., in
renewing his subscription to the
Times -Advocate wishes to be remem-
bered
emembered to his old friends and extends
the season's greetings.
Dr. H. J. Browning has installed
a Hanovia Quartz Lamp in connect-
ion with his artificial ultra. violet
ray machine. There are very few of
these machines outside of the large
centres.
Miss May Elworthy, of Detroit,
and Miss Rota Elworthy, nurse -in -
training of Ford Hospital, Detroit,
visited with their parents,. Mr. and
Mrs. H. Elworthy, for a few days
last week.

printed on Thursday of this week
instead of Wednesday and subscrib-
ers will receive their paper a day
late, This is being done in'order to
'secure the election returns.

The editor of the Times -Advocate
has received an invitation to the an-
nual meeting of the Huron Old
Boys' Association of Toronto which
will be field in the auditorium of the
Y.M.C.A., 40 College St., on Friday
evening December 3rd.

Miss Hettie Sweet, who has 'been
confined to her home for several
weeks, the result of having fractur-
ed a• bone in her foot, is now able to
be around by the use of 'crutches.
Miss Sweet was out beechnutting on
Thanksgiving and -•she stepped on a
stick which threw • her with the
above result.
Political speeches have been com-
ing over the raido during the past
week. The service held in the
Capitol Theatre, London, Sunday ev-
ening by the young people who pro-
tested against some of the remarks
made in the campaign by Premier
Ferguson was broadcasted and many
of our citizens heard Mr. Oswald
Brown, formerly of Exeter, and a
member of the Older Boy's Parlia-
ment, read the official protest.
The very changeable weather bas
continued during the past week. On
Friday of last week there Was quite
a heavy rain and on Saturday it was
quite cold with snow, the roads being
frozen quite hard. It turned milder
Sunday night and Monday and Tues -1
day were quite mild. The roads
were in a bad condition and very
heavy. They were cut quite deep
in some places being worse than '
the�v were in the spring.

Quante motored to London Sunday.
They had a very narrow escape from
a serious accident while returning in
the evening: . Near St. dohna a large
sedan Was approaching them taking
the centre of the road and travelling
at a fast rate of Speed. Mr. Beer
Was close to the right side of the
road and. the other car in turning
off grazed the fender of Mr. Beer's
auto and also struek the httb-c`.ap.
Another lath or two and. there would
have been a bad accident.
