A heavy -snow fall visited this sec-
tion on Wednesday of last week and
on Thursday cutters and sleighs were
running about the town. The snow
disappeared by the end of the- week.
Mr. Cecil McAlpine, teller -at the
Bank of Montreal_ here, has been
transferred to St. Thomas. leaving
Wednesday morning. His place here
has bun taken by Mr. Evans, of
Guelph.
Mr. and Mrs. B. W. F. Beavers
were in Dashwood on Sunday, where
Mr. Beavers gave a temperance talk
at the Evangelical church. . arr., and
Mts. Beavers were the guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Gaiser.
Mr. Nelson. Hunkin, who had his
leg fractured in a runaway .acci-
dent about a month ago, and who
has since been at the home of his
sister, Mrs. Ed. Pollen, of town,
has sufficiently recovered to be able
to return to his hom in Usborne.
Mrs. Rufus Kestle and Miss Nettie
Reedy were in London last week at-
tending the Women's Institute con-
vention. Mr. W. C. Keddy and Mr.
Keene motored down on Friday and
attended the funeral. of .a cousin,
Miss Edith Down. They were ac-
companied home by the two ladies.
Mr. W. H. Martin, of London, vis-
ited his mother, Mrs. Thos. Martin,
in town on Thursday of last -week,
the occasion. being the 91st birthday
of the latter who is to ,be congratu-
lated on reaching euch'. a ripe old
age and especially as she is enjoy-
ing remarkably good health for one
of her years.

have been parked in the Main St.
church shed by scholars who are at-
tending the Exeter H. S. In -addition
to the stealing sofne disgraceful
writing by chalk has been pIaced'on
the cars. Investigation's are being
made and some parties are in line,
for trouble.

Santa, Claus passed through Ex-
eter on the London, Huron & Bruce
Saturday morning on his way to Lon-
don where a civic reception awaited
him. A large number of youngsters
were at the station to greet him dur-
ing the. short Stop here. The child-
ren were in high glee .as the train
pulled in and Santa stepped off with.
a bag of candy on his back which
he freely distributed to the mob
which gathered about him.
