BARN NEAR KIRK'TON
D33.18,`.PROVE1) BY FIRE
An early blaze of, unknown ori-
gin eon, Wednesday morning of last
week cleetrOyed the barn of Naasan
Switzer, 1 1-2 miles of Kirkton.
The large bauk barn and ail its con-
tents are a total loss, the damage
amouitting to between $5,000 and
$6.,000,„ a portion of which is Over -
ed by insurance in the Blanshard
Insurance Co. The fire, which
broke out about 4 o'clock in the
inorenteteg was • first noticed lay •a
neighbor, Vete ,was awakened by the
reflection. The owner was roused
and farmers from the aistrict called
to assist in battling the blaze. Suf-
ficient headway had been gained by
the flames, however, to render use-•
less all exteeiguishing activities. The
efforts of the fighters were spent in
saving the nearby buildings., In-
cluded in the loss are the year's
crops, a cow and a calf, brood sow
and 10 pigs and a number .of valu-
able imprements. The barn, one of
the mostemodern aud well equipped
in the district, was 100 feet by 40
•feet in size.

not too fast.
