Lunch will be served at noon. Following lunch, we will be celebrating Robbie Burns Day. A Christmas Eve Candlelight and Communion Service was held at Hensall United Church. The service began with words of welcome followed by the lighting of the Advent candles and the lighting of the Christ candle. "Let's Go To Bethlehem", a Christmas Eve cantata by Rev. Richard J Fairchild with carols and scripture readings followed. Readers and Narrators were Les Hills, Judi Walker, and Doug Walker. Candle- lighters were John, Barb, Jasmine and Keelan Power. The quartet sang, followed by a Christmas Prayer in unison. Lorelee Schneider was the organist Hensall News for this special service with ministers Fred Darke and Rev. John Roberts. The greeters were Janice and Garry Alderdice with Ken and Linda Firman looking after the ushering duties. At Hensall United Church the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was presented. Readers for the service were Kathy Mann, Glenn Hayter, Lorelee Schneider, Les Hills, Cecil Pepper, Jean Jacobe, Judi Walker, and Fred Darke. Robert Towers was the organist with choir members of Hensall United and Trivitt Anglican of Exeter. Ken Elder was the greeter with Denise and Andrew Troyer ushering and Ryan Jacobe attending the elevator. - Janice Alderdice was the candle -lighter for this special service. The Christmas Eve service at Carmel Presbyterian Church began with the Call to Worship and the Lighting of the Advent Candles by. the Taylor family. Dorothy Taylor was the organist for this service. Tracy Whitson-Bahro and Greg Bahro joined in a reading. The children received a bag of treats following the service. Special music was contributed by Lori Taylor. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Joyce Pepper was the organist with Al Hoggarth and Harry Smith receiving the offering. Flowers in the sanctuary were in memory of the late Bev Oesch. Tracy's message was "Smile Through The Face Of Christmas". Tracy had a special children's story. Several carols were sung during the service. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family and friends of the late Mildred Kyle. Congratulations to proud grandparents Marie Dublin News O'Rourke of Mitchell, and Dianne and Tony Strybosch, of Kerwood. Sympathy of Dublin area is extended to Faye and Dave Murray on the death of Faye's mother, Doris Carnochan, who died on Dec. 24. Sympathy to all other family, relatives and friends. Parishioners, visitors greeted by colourful lights, manger scene at St. Columban Church Parishioners and visitors to St. Columban St. Columban News Church were greeted by the colourful lights and manger scene as they arrived for Christmas Eve celebrations. The traditional celebration began with the singing of Christmas hymns by the choir. The young people of the parish performed a pageant, complete with angels, innkeepers, shepherds and wise men, in a retelling of the story of Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus, Kailyn and Stacy Burke, accompanied by Tom Burke on the guitar, told the story in song. Traditional Christmas Eve Mass followed, presided by Father Lance Magdziak. The service closed with .a lively rendition of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" followed by distribution of candy by Father Lance.
