My Christmas Wish for the World

MY CHRISTMAS WISH
FOR THE WORLD
By Connor Devereaux
Grade 6, St. Janes
My Christmas wish for the
world is that kids realize the
importance of Christmas. It's
not about getting presents; it
is about giving presents and
celebrating the birth of Jesus.
I wish that every child in the
world had a present to
unwrap at Christmas. We can
help the world in so many
ways. Food drives for those in
need, stopping racism, ending
conflicts and wars and
sharing the world's wealth
and resources.
If we had food drives the
needy would appreciate it a
lot. A food drive is when you
take some of your extra food
and give it at a school or
community centre and is
known as a Food bank and
they in turn distribute it to the
hungry families. You don't
know how happy they would
be if they could share a
healthy meal with their family
on Christmas Day. For
starving children, this would
be the greatest gift.
There would not be as much
racism and you can't judge
people by their looks. If we
got to know people from
different nationalities, we
would see them the same as
you and I. Lawyers, doctors,
police officers, massage
therapists, teachers,
principals, students and bus
drivers, they arc all good
people, no matter what
religion or nationality they
are.
The pro athletes who make
millions could give to the
starving third world countries.
We could help with the poor

in our home towns. The rich
and famous could give money
to the needy instead of buying
their new six million dollar
mansions. They are so used to
their glitzy lifestyle, they
forget the hardships of many
in the real world.
God made this world and
the resources are here that we
all have food, water, and
shelter. During this Christmas
season I hope and pray that
our leaders will seek justice
and peace but we all can take
positive steps. We must be
generous and we can all live
with less.
MY CHRISTMAS WISH
FOR THE WORLD
By Kurt Hoggart
Grade 6, St. James
When my teacher first asked
our class what our Christmas --
wish for the world was, my
first thought was toys. The
newest, hottest toys like PS2
and X -box. But then I thought
of people who don't even
have a home for Christmas.
People who don't have
anything at all.
My wish is that we all are
able to help out where we can
this Christmas. If we see a
homeless person on the street,
it is my wish that we give
them some food or some
clothing.
But that is not all we should
do. We should also take the
time to stop at a food bank
and drop off some non-
perishable food items so that
people who are Tess fortunate
arc able to have a good meal.
Also, some churches are
having coat and blanket
drives. So if you have old
coats and blankets around, it
would be a good idea to drop
them off and the churches
will see that the people who
need them, get them.
I know that is what I'm
doing for Christmas. So
forget all the newest and
greatest toys and think of all
of the less fortunate people
this Christmas. This is my
Christmas wish for the world.
clothing or toy drives, think
about starting up your own.
This will make you feel good
about yourself and your
parents might have more trust
in you because you are taking
a big responsibility. You are
also being a liberator of God.
Other ways tht we can give
in the Christmas season are
spending time with elders and
other people that need
comforted around the
Christmas season. If you have
some free time, visit the
manor or a homeless shelter.
You can share all your talents
and skills with people that
really need it the most.
For example you may be
really good at singing and
every weekend you could go
to the manor and sing to all
the people. You also might
consider asking a teacher at
your school if you can make a
choir that will go on a school
day to the manor or shelter
and share your voice with
others.
We should also be peaceful
to our neighbours and friends.
Even a hello or a hand shake
is nice to get at this time of
year. When you are at school
you can be nice to your
teacher by saying Merry
Christmas.
We don't only have to be
friendly to our neighbours in
town but we as Canadians
should be nice to other
countries especially in this
time of peace. An example of
being peaceful would be to
try to stop any wars that are
going on at this time. If we
can't stop a war it would be
nice enough to just stop the
war on Christmas Day and
just be one big family.
So this Christmas try to help
your neighbours or give food
or even try to stop a war, but
whatever you do be giving
and caring.

MY CHRISTMAS WISH
FOR THE WORLD
By Brent Melody
Grade 6, St. James
I think that everyone in the
world deserves to have a
Merry Christmas. I believe
there is magic at Christmas. I
feel that everybody should be
with their family in the
Christmas season.
My 'Christmas wish for the
world is that everyone would
have similar thoughts. I wish
that everyone had the same
spirit, not only at Christmas,
but all year long. Everybody
should be kind to one another
and have respect for others.
I wish that world leaders
would agree on things so that
there wouldn't be any wars. I
wish that every country
respected each other and
wouldn't have fighting. I wish
there weren't any horrible
weapons that can kill so many
people. Weapons should only
be used if absolutely
necessary.
We should always help
people in need whenever we
can. Everybody deserves to
have a warm bed at night and
to live in a comfortable home.
By helping those in need we
can set up food drives (which
is donating food), and we can
also give them very simple
gifts, like toy cars, tractors,
etc. We can give our old
clothes to the Salvation
Army, which will then be
passed on to the less
fortunate.
I wish everybody would
remember the true meaning
of Christmas. A lot of
children think that all
Christmas is about is presents
and Santa Claus. Part of
Christmas is giving and
receiving presents, to make
sure everybody has a fun and
enjoyable Christmas. I wish
that all people could be
healthy and without disease.
Everybody should have
hospitality and have first aid
when necessary. Nobody
should be wounded and not
have it looked at because that
may cause a disease.
Everybody should also have
healthy food and clean water.
Nobody should die of hunger.
hi fact, nobody should die at
all. Everybody should live
forever.
If everybody had peace in
their hearts, helped those in
need, remembered the true
meaning of Christmas, and
everybody had proper health
care. I would guarantee you
everybody would have an
excellent Christmas. So
please, do these things, and
the world will have a great
Christmas.
