Deaths FRASER, Douglas Campbell: Douglas Campbell Fraser of RR 2, Blyth passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Thursday, December 11th, 2003. Doug was In his 78th year. Born in Stratford on October 28th, 1926, Doug spent his early years in Stratford and attend- ed Juliet Public School. His parents moved the family to the Walton area during the depression when Doug was about 8 years old. They settled on the 8th Conc. of Morris Township and he completed his elementary school years at Button School. As a young man he learned farming skills and made friendships with many young people in the Walton area. Many of those people have remained friends and neighbours to this day. Doug married Marjory Hackwell on October 22nd, 1948 and they rented a house for one year before buying a farm on the 16th Conc. of Grey Township. Three of their four children were born while they lived on that farm. In 1964, they moved to their second farm on the 8th of Morris where their fourth child was born. Doug and Marjory built their retirement bungalow on the 8th of Morris in the early 90s. Doug was always a very social person, enjoying his family and friends as well was taking part in community activities. The family celebrated many occasions with family reunions and Doug loved to meet with his friends at the Saturday night dances. He was also a willing participant in community plays, card parties, parades or fund raising events. Duff's United Church played a vital role in Doug's life and he served on many of the Boards of the church such as Stewardship, Elders, Ministry, Personnel, as well as the choir. Doug was active in the community as a member of the Federation of Agriculture and the Huron County Hog Board. He served on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Cream Producers as the Huron -Perth rep- resentative. He was a founding member of the Brussels Section of the Diabetes Association. He served on Morris Township Council for 14 years, 5 years as a Councillor and 9 as Reeve. As Reeve he was part of the Huron County Council and through these activities many lifelong friends were made. Travelling to many locations was a pleasure for Doug. Doug and Marjory visited England, France, Jamaica, Nova Scotia as well sev- eral trips to Branson, MO. to enjoy the music. Shopping was also a favourite activity and he recently wanted to show everyone his new car or the features of his new t.v. Doug will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Marjory and his chil- dren Carolyn Sullivan and her hus- band Gerry of Waterloo, Dianne Blake and her husband Phil of Waterloo, Clayton Fraser and his wife Bev of Tecumseh, and Cheryl Mader and her husband Glenn of Cambridge.
