A local resident and a
father/daughter team will be
leading the services at both
Northside and Cavan United
Churches until a full-time
minister arrives.
Dave Williams, of Kirkton,
has been a guest speaker at
the church for the past three
months and during the
summer at the two-point
pastoral charge.
"I really enjoy coming
back to Northside and Cavan
United Church. They're
wonderful churches and I
always feel welcomed by the
congregation," said Williams.
The retired St. Marys
District Collegiate and
Vocational Institute teacher
is also licensed to conduct
ministerial services. The
license does not allow him to
conduct communions,
weddings or baptisms and
those activities will be
officiated by Rev. Jane
Kuepfer.
Williams said that since his
retirement in 1996 he has
been filling in for ministers
whether for holidays, sick
leave or as an interim. He
said during that period he has
tilled in for nearly half of the
United Churches in Huron
and Perth Counties.

"We hope that we can help
to reach both crowds as long
as we have a message that
people can relate to. It's great
to hear people say 'that's
exactly what I needed' and
thank you," said Snyders.
"It's a very rewarding
experience. We've been very
blessed to be able to do what
we do — attending so many
churches and making
friendships with so many
people," said Whitmore.
