The Hensall Legion
Branch 468 held a successful
Poor Boy Lunch last Friday.
The Hensall and
Community Horticultural
Society held their pot -luck
supper meeting on Nov. 27.
Members brought a wide
array of delicious dishes.
Garden hosts from this year's
garden tour had been invited
and those in attendance were
presented with small tokens
of appreciation.
After the meal members
sang a few carols with Bill
Gibson providing.
accompaniment. President

The annual Hensall tree -
lighting ceremony will be
held at the Town Hall on
Dec. 5.
There will be carols, hot-
dogs, hot chocolate and
perhaps even a visit from
Kris Kringle. There will also
be a tour of the Fire Hall,
where boxes will be placed
to receive donations for the
Huron County Christmas
Bureau. Please bring toys or
non-perishable food items.
Everyone is welcome.
At Hensall United Church
the service began with the
Passing of the Peace,
Hensall
welcome and
announcements. The
children's hymn was "Come
Though Long -Expected
Jesus." The choir sang an
anthem, "The Lord's Prayer."
Bill Gibson lit the Candle of
Hope. Les Hills gave the
reading.
Fred Darke's message was
"A Time Of Waiting, A
Time Of Expectation."
Lorelee Schnieder was
organist with Judy Mock and
Paul Norton looking after the
ushering duties. There will
be no morning service next
Sunday.
Poinsettias in the sanctuary
were in memory of Leila
Johnston by daughter Helen
MacLean, Ron Mock by Kay
and family, John Castledinc
Vines, who created a variety
of innovative Christmas
arrangements. Door prizes
were won by Jeanette Turner,
Ruth Johnson, Floyd McAsh,
Ann Maxwell and Cheryl
Bilcke. The next meeting
will be the annual meeting on
Jan. 22.
At Carmel Presbyterian
Church Tracy Whitson-
Bahro's message was "Raise
Your Head." Joyce Pepper
was the organist with Bob
Bell and Harry Smith
receiving the offering. Tracy
lit the Candle of Hope. Next
Sunday is White Gift
Sunday, food donations will
be welcome as well.

on the passing of Mrs.

to serve 1,682 adults and children this year.

Retirement Home in Hensall
for the November Birthday
Party held Thursday, Nov. 27
at 7 p.m.
The dance floor was full at
times with residents and
guests moving to the beat of
the old tyme
music.

celebrating

Dora Nesbitt, Babe
McGregor, Mary McKenzie,
Harry Frayne, Helen
Ferrigno, Melba Landstrom
and Jean Sissons.
Queensway Nursing Home
Monday afternoon the
Bethel Reform Women from
Exeter church provided
prizes and assistance at bingo
followed by a hymn sing.
The Rev. Phil Wagler of
Zurich Mennonite
Church led
worship Tuesday
afternoon with a
wonderful message about
"Hope." Belva Fuss was
volunteer organist for the
service and Marg Cole and
Pastor Elly Van Bergen
assisted residents.
Fun and Fitness gave
residents a work out Monday,
Wednesday and Friday
mornings followed by mental
aerobics.
Tuesday morning residents
benefited from breakfast
group in the family dining
area and on Thursday
morning coffee and current
events kept everyone
informed.
The last Friday of the
month resident council took
place and family members
are welcome to join -us for
this forum where residents
can air concerns and give
input into issues that affect
them.
