Election recount prompts question if
policy is needed to assign related costs

municipality pay for the
recount.
The recount on
Thursday took two hours
to complete and was
done by McLachlan and
two other staff members.
Seili and Dunbar were
present.
In his report to
council, McLachlan said
the recount would be
done internally and not
impact the budget.

the recount would take
three or four hours to
complete. He said the
ballot boxes would be
lined up and the
envelopes would be
unsealed to retrieve only
the ballots for mayor.
Afterwards, the
envelopes, which must
be sealed for 90 days
after the election, would
be resealed.
"What happens if
council says no (to the
recount)'?" asked
Steffler.
McLachlan responded
that Dunbar would have
the right to take his
request to a judge at the
Superior Court of Justice
within 30 days of the
declaration of the results
of the election.
Huron OPP charge
Seaforth woman
with trafficking
A 39 -year-old Seaforth woman was charged with
trafficking a controlled substance after Huron OPP
stopped a vehicle with marijuana inside it on Nov. 21 at
3:15 p.m.on Gouiniock Street in Seaforth.
Police were called by a citizen who saw a gray four -
door 1990 Buick being used to sell marijuana to local
youths.
They stopped the woman and found two baggies of
suspected marijuana in the car.
The woman is scheduled to attend court in Goderich on
Feb. 2.
