Construction which began in June for the the $2.6 million Highway 8 project, as part of the Ontario government's SuperBuild project, involves the reconstruction of the highway in Dublin and replacement of the Liffy Drain bridge. "The rainy weather slowed us down there for a bit, but we had a few nice days as well so we seem to be right on schedule," said Joe Looby, of Looby Construction Ltd. The Dublin construction company was a sub- contractor for the bridge portion of the project and is working under Lavis Contracting Company Ltd., who was awarded the full contract. Although this set up was creating difficulties for area businesses in the midst of th'e construction, Looby said he has heard few complaints. "I haven't seen any problems here from the people but I'm sure they'll be happy to see it come to end," he said. The project also included guiderail and signage upgrades as well as minor intersection improvements on Highway 8. Looby said that as things are on schedule and the bridge deck was poured last week, they will complete the project and clean up by the end of November. Maids of Honour were Andrea Vandendool and Cheryl Workman. Best man was Steve Pearce 1 and attendants were Christine, Natalie and Stephanie Dale, Link Miller, Christopher and Devin Blake. The reception was held at the Brussels Community Centre out of the rain with' a wonderful meal by Red Rose Catering. The new couple presently resides in Stratford. Dublin Mitchell who passed away on Nov. 5. For many years Joe was the owner and manager of Walther's IDA Pharmacy. He is survived by his wife, Joy, and their family Johanne, Barbara, Nancy and June and their spouses and family. As Christmas is near, C.W.L. dinners are approaching. On Wednesday, Nov. 19, St. Patrick's CWL is having a pot luck dinner, beginning at 6 p.m. followed by entertainment. On Monday, Dec. 1, St. Vincent de Paul, Mitchell will hold their pot luck Christmas dinner at 6 p.m. followed by entertainment.
