The papers state 'hat a motorist travelling through the town at approximately 15_ miles ars hour was arrested and fined $14 because he was exceeding the speed limit of 10 miles an hour. They also grate: "The peculiar part of the riatter is that some motorists are able to go through the town at a speed of 25 ilex an hour and over, while other of cattle were being driven through town they got beyond control and did considerable damage to several gardens. At the corner of Albert and James St. the animals bolted and, running across_ the James St. par- sonage lawn they entered ,jr. 11T. R. Complin's garden and finally out through the parsonage gardon do- ing damage to the garden vege- tables and flowers. After getting the animals under control they were being driven up Andrew St. and when in front of Mrs. G. 'When in less than a week four cars were wrecked on one corner and several persons injured because of fast driving it became necessaa'y that some action should be takers. For two seasons a traffic policeman has been warning motorists and the traf- fic laws are being well observed, but there are still some motorists, who thin!; because we are a ;mall town, that they can raee through the business section at from 35 to 50 miles an hour. When motorists front this community visit London they know they must obey the let- ter of the law or accept the conse- quences, but Exeter's traffic police- man has prosecuted only where there have been flagrant violations.
