SUCCESSFUL FLOWER SHOW
The Exeter Horticultural Society
scored another success in their an-
nual flower show on Friday and
Saturday last in the Exeter skating
rink. The profusion of bloom this
year was the equal of any of the
shows held by the society. While
some classes ,were possibly a little
lighter than other years other class-
es were better and on the whole
everyone was agreed that some mag-
nificent floral specimens were on
exhibition: By far. the' ;largest ex-
hibit was the gladioli and some
very rich colorings were on display
ranging from pure white to delicate
shadings of pink, yellow, red and year when persons take particular

he was exceeding the speed limit of

too lenient with motorists who be-
cause of their leniency have taken
advantage and raced through the
town at excessive rates of speed.
'When in less than a week four cars
were wrecked on one corner and
several persons injured because of
fast driving it became necessaa'y that
some action should be takers. For
two seasons a traffic policeman has
been warning motorists and the traf-
fic laws are being well observed,
but there are still some motorists,
who thin!; because we are a ;mall
town, that they can raee through the
business section at from 35 to 50
miles an hour. When motorists
front this community visit London
they know they must obey the let-
ter of the law or accept the conse-
quences, but Exeter's traffic police-
man has prosecuted only where
there have been flagrant violations.
Sonie of our citizens are suspicious
that the source of Mr. Bernard's in-
formation is a citizen of London who
raced through town at a dizzy rate
of speed and who in court solemnly
sworn that he was not travelling
over the speed unlit, Exeter's
motive is the protection. of the
