making a valuation of the property/
in the county 'for county assess-
ment purposes. They have finished.
all the townships except Hay and
Stephen which they are doing this
week, and then they have the vil-
lages and towns to do. They will
make their report to the County
Co'un.,cil at the December session and.
the new assessment will' come in
force in 1927.
Mr. Robt. Higgins, registrar for
Hensall has about completed the
voters' list for the coming Federal
election, there being 475•voters: The
lists will be posted next week, one
in the post office and one in the
Town Hall, -and everyone is advised
to personally see• that their name is
on the list. Hensall being a double
poll the lists will be split in two,
from A to M, and N to Z. An vot-
ers .whose initials are from, A to M
will vote in the council chamber in
the Town Hall, with Colin Hudson
es Deputy Returning officer. These
whose initials are from N to Z will
vote in the reading room with Miss
Ethel Murdock`as Returning Officer.
-The Trustees of the United church
have placed a' bulletin board of a
very beautiful. design on the lawn
in front of the church to advertise
the services. -Word was received in
Hensall on Monday morning of the
death of Mrs. Jerymn of Blueville,
mother of Mrs. Arthur Sinclair, of
Hensall. Mrs. Jerymn has been in
poor health for some time and was
taken to a London Hospital on Sun-
day but she failed to rally and died
during the night. -Rev and Mrs. A.
Sinclair are in ;Blueville this rweek
attending the funeral of Mrs. Sin-
clair's mother. -A severe hail and
rain storm passed over Hensall on
Saturday afternoon and another
big storm in the evening doing quite
a lot of damage to grain standing
in the fields and also the corn. The
rain at times was very heavy and
during the evening a cistern on the
top floor of Mr. Joynts' store over-
flowed, the water doing considerable
damage to goods in the ladies' de-
partment. -Mrs. Annie McRea of
Toronto and sister, Mrs. Delivah Mc-
Kenzie, of Chicago, and Mr. Angus
McRea, of Pittsburg; are visiting
Mr. and Mrs. John McKay. -Miss
Mattie Ellis is visiting friends In

An attractive miscellaneous show-
er was given on Monday evening of
last' week at the home of Dr. and
Mrs. J. W. Orme, • in honor of Miss
Merle Clarke, a bride elect of this
month. It was arranged by the
choir and Sunday school class, 'iIso

church of which the guest of honor
is a -valued member. After a program.
of music and a contest "Love at the
Wheel," the gifts were brought into
the living room on a gaily decorated
wagon, drawn by little Miss Lois
Orme and Donald Kestle, dressed as
a bride and groom. Many pretty
and useful articles were showered
upon the bride to be who opened the
parcels, each one accompanied by a
kind wish. A dainty lunch was
