MELT AWAY THOSE EXTRA POUNDS SAFE, NATURAL DOCTOR APPROVED AND IT WORKS!!! 1-519-236-4133 News Hospital fundraising halfway to winter goal Tree of Lights campaign raised close to $7,000 for automatic double doors for patio using Seaforth's hospital for its physiotherapy services since it's difficult to get into the Stratford hospital. "There was a wonderful outpouring this year," she says. The Tree of Lights donations will go towards automatic double doers onto the hospital patio for patients in wheelchairs. "It's the first structural project we've done for the hospital. We're supposed to be wheelchair -accessible and some patients were having trouble getting onto the patio without help from a nurse," she says. Ste. Marie says she was also thrilled with the new light display at Seaforth's Lions Park, organized by Ross Ribey. "We were thrilled to death to be able to look over from the hospital and see all those lights come on at the park. Hopefully, we'll be able to compete with Owen Sound or Niagara Falls someday. It's so beautiful coming over that little hill and seeing those lights on the edge of town," she says. By Susan Hundsrtmark Expositor Editor The Seaforth Community Hospital foundation is more than halfway to its goal of $25,000-$30,000 for a Christmas fundraising campaign for a three -in -one cardiac monitor, says foundation president Ron Lavoie. And the Christmas cards, enclosed in the donation requests, are being returned to the hospital in great numbers. "We've raised $19,000 so far and the Christmas cards for staff and patients are rolling in. They're decorating the hospital with the cards and they look quite nice," says Lavoie. The $18,000 heart monitor can be used as a defibrillator to treat heart attacks and irregular heart beats, as a tool to monitor and display a patient's heart rhythm and as a pacemaker to help stimulate a slow heart rate. As well, it can monitor a patient's blood oxygen levels and can provide a printed record of the information it collects. Seaforth Susan Hundertmark photo hospital office member Colleen Lowes attaches one more card to a garland of Christmas cards sent to staff and patients during the Christmas fundraising campaign. "It's an essential piece of equipment that our hospital and medical staff can't afford to be without and neither can our community," says Lavoie's fundraising letter. As well, the Seaforth hospital auxiliary has raised close to $7,000 with its annual Tree of Lights campaign. "It went extremely well and we did better this year than last year. We're very pleased with Seaforth, Dublin and Mitchell," says auxiliary president Anne Ste. Marie. Ste. Marie says Mitchell residents, many of them shopkeepers on Mitchell's main street, have been donating towards Seaforth's hospital for the past two years. Canvassing Mitchell was the idea of two Mitchell residents who joined the auxiliary three years ago. "The first year they went from store to store but this year they set up shop at the grocery store and sold tickets," she says. Ste.
