Everyone was buying Christmas trees around this time. There was a family named the Longings. The Longings were very picky about their Christmas trees. They always had the most finest tree in the town. They came across this one tree that was $300. They thought about it for about a week, and then finally said, "Will take it!" They got it home and they set it up. The tree was 7 ft. high and 6 ft. around. The Longings were very happy with their tree and Harold, the husband said, "Bob who sold it to us said it would last us 10 years." Mary the wife was so pleased that they didn't have to buy another tree for 10 years. Now it was December 15, 1891. Almost every person in the whole town had seen their Christmas tree because it was so beautiful. The Longings were so happy to see everybody admiring their tree. Then another week went by with lots of fun and excitement in the Longings household. Now it was December 22, 1891 and the time was flying. The Longings were so excited for Christmas, because they had presents for a lot of people in the town. The night before Christmas the Longings would drop the presents down the people's chimneys that they had presents for. Well, that night came, and they were so excited to hop from roof to roof dropping presents in their houses. They had hidden cameras on the presents to see their reactions in the morning and see if they were happy. Then next year came. Then they were doing the present dropping and they saw their very own Christmas tree putting presents in the houses chimneys! They waited for the tree at home. Then when the tree finally came home, the Longings captured it with a rope. The tree said that he was Santa Claus! In 1882, he was captured and brought to this mysterious place, and turned into a tree. So I didn't quit my job as Santa Claus. I kept on going to houses dropping off presents. Then I got captured once again by the guy who you bought me from. Then you placed me in your lovely home for the past two years. But I was still delivering presents. That is my story and stickin' to it!! Now could you please do me a favour and change me back to Old Saint Nick. The Longings were very happy to change Mr. Tree back to Santa Claus. So they began. It only took two hours and Saint Nick was back to his jolly self. Once he saw that he was back in his old rightful body, he called his reindeer with his whistle and away he went with his sleigh to the north pole. Brad Van Bakel Grade 5 St. James School The night Rudolph broke his leg Last night on Christmas Eve at my house when Santa and all his reindeer were playing on the roof, Rudolph broke his leg. My sister Kylie woke up. She went downstairs and she looked around. She heard something from the roof so she put on her coat, hat and mitts. She went outside and looked up. She didn't see anything. She moved back four steps. She saw Santa. She backed up a little bit more. She saw Rudolph laying down. She yelled, "Santa Claus!" Santa looked down and said, "Yes what do you want?" "I want to know why Rudolph is laying down?" "I'm not sure but I think he has a broken leg." "Could I come up there and look?" But as he is coming down, the door swung open. Michael came out. He saw Kylie and he saw Santa. He ran down to where Kylie was standing. He asked her what was going on? Kylie explained what was happening. Santa said, "I have to go back to the North Pole to get one of my elves to fix Rudolph's leg." In about one hour Santa was back with two elves. The elves hopped out with Santa. They got out a first aid kit and fixed up Rudolph's leg. Michael and Kylie went to sleep and Santa delivered all of the presents before morning.
