The recent rains have delayed the
harvest. Some of the grain has
been. cut for over two weeks and in
some cases it has started. to sprout,
Stook threshing has started,
Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Swegler and
little daughter, of Toronto, have
been visiting with Mr, and Mrs. N.
J. Dore. Mrs, Dore returned. with
them to visit in Toronto.
Messrs, Edward Aldworth and
Eugene Howey were in Medford last
Sunday, taking the morning and
evening services for Rev. Mr, Wil-
liams, who is 017. vacation,
Mr, and Mrs. A. Llewellyn Stewart
of Montreal, who have been, holiday-
ing at Muskoka, arrived In town on
Monday to visit the former's parents

Mr. Marvin Rice, of Wyoming, is
visiting with friends in town.

Beldon were winners of the fourth
prize in the Scotch doubled bowling
tournament ,of the London Rowing
club on Wednesday of last week.
They won all their games but their

others.
Mr, and Mrs, Wm, Forrest, of
New York, have been visiting for
over a weak with the • Eacrett con-
nection in this community. They
leave Thursday for their home. Mrs.
B. W. P. Beavers will accompany
them as far, as 'Woodstock and
Brantford.
Mr. J. W. Hogarth, who has been
teaching school at Matheson, New
Ontario, is visiting his sisters and
other relatives in town. Mr. Hogarth
has been teaching school for over
forty-five years and has decided. to
take a well-earned rest and 'will
make his home in Exeter.
Donald, Jack and Harold McKin-
non, of -Parkhill, were 'arrested Fri-
day of. last weekfor assaulting and
causing bbdily harm to R. G. Flem-
ing'. of Toronto. Fleming, whowas
working with three other provincial
constables, had made arrangements
to purchase some liquor from one of
the .McKinnon boys, and drove to a
bush near Parkhill. The two broth-
ers followed -and beat up the con-
stable. They- were later placed 'un-
der arrest. They are now out on
bail pending -trial.

Although the. weather man was a
little unkind in dishing up a showery
day yet the crowds that .attended
the contests showed that even if
bad weather does stand in line, yet
the people flock -to this summer re-
sort, and where it was a. real Ford

In the matter of a rest -room in
Exeter proposed by the Women's In-
stitute of the community the coencil
looked with favour on the proposal
and were agreeable to help finan-
cially in the event of the plan being
carried out.
