Mrs. D. Rowcliffe returned home
the latter part of last 'ltreelt after
visiting her daughter, Mrs. N. Gra-
ham,. of Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Thompson, of
Arden. Man.; are visiting Mr. and
Mrs. John Chambers and other re-
latives in this community.
The various Sunday schools will
meet next Sunday afternoon at 2.30
instead of three o'clock owing to
Decoration Day at the cemetery.
Owing .to Thursday, July lst. be-
ing a holiday the stores of town will
be -open all day Wednesday, June
30th and will also be open'Wednes-
day evening.
Mr. Edgar Thomson left Monday
for Rouyn, Quebec, where he has
secured a position as student assist-
ant on the Geological Survey of Can-
ada during the summer months.
Dr. J. W. and Mrs. Harrison and
son Wilfred, motored over from De-
troit and spent the forepart of the
week .with the former's sister, Mrs.
Coultis and other relatives.
Mr. Melville Gladman, of London,
spent Sunday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. R. E. Pickard. Mr. Glad -
man recently passed his final exams
at Osgoode Hall and has been called
to the bar.
Mr.- T. 0. Southcott returned Sat-
urday after at -tending Grand Lodge
t the I,O.O.F. in .Toronto. Mrs.
Southcott, who has been visiting at
;Galt and Toronto for several weeks
returned with hien.
NIr. Chester- Chappell and his
mother, and Mrs.- Win. Chappell, of
Dundas and Mrs. Rogers, of Hamil-
ton, spent Sunday with friends in
town. Mrs. Rogers is reinaining
for a time to visit with her sister,
Mrs. Josiah Kestle.
Mr. J. G. Stanbury was at Gode-
rich both Friday and Saturday where
he was engaged as special. Crown
Counsel for the Department of
Health in the charge against Dr. R.
H. Taylor, of Dashwood. The cases
have been adjourned until July
6th
and the bail of $15,000, was re-
newed.
The remains of the late Matilda
Armstrong were brought to Exeter '
from London on Friday last for in-
terment in the Exeter cemetery.
The deceased was at one time a resi-
dent of the Thames Road, but for
the past 25 years she has made her
home with, her daughter, Mrs. W.
E. Saylor, where she died. One
son Wesley, of the Thames Road al-
so survi,pes. Mr. and Mrs. Saylor.
and Mr. Sid. Andrew, of London, ac-
companied the remains to town. •
About sixty ladies of the Exeter
and Hurondale Institutes gathered
xn James St. church on Wednesday
afternoon of last weak to hear Miss
E. . M. Collins, of Ancaster, Govt.
lecturer. The need of such an or-
ganization as the Wotnn's Institute
in any community was stressed by
Miss Collins, who has a Wide field of
experience. Her address was a
,.splendid inspiration for the year's
work. Other auinbers whick added
much to the afternoon's program was
piano solo by Miss Lena, Coates, a
reading by Miss M. Miller, a solo by
Mies Hazel Snell and an instrument
al by Mrs. Hodgins,' of • Lucan. A
dainty lunch , was served by the
ladies at the @lose of the meeting.
