He has married two sisters to two brothers and also married another couple on the Chi-Cheemaun on the afterdeck where the foghorn blows. After the wedding was done the little girl in the wedding party asked "Are we married yet?" because the foghorn kept blowing during the response to the vows. Morgan married a wealthy couple from Wisconsin aboard their $600,000 yacht they ordered from Gozzard Yachts and then they sailed off for a trip around the world for their honeymoon. One couple came out of the blue one day to Morgan's house. They were both actors at the Stratford Festival and showed up at Morgan's doorstep to be married. They had to hurry around to find witnesses for the eager couple. Another couple he married in Stratford both wore tuxedos. The bride wore white and the groom in black, and they both rode off on their motorcycles with the word "Just" on one motorcycle and "Married" on the back of the other. One of the most unique weddings he has performed was last year at the Blyth Arena where the bride and groom both involved in broomball were married at centre ice. Morgan wore a referee's shirt and dropped the ball on their union. Forty members of the immediate family sat on red carpet on the ice and about 100 more sat in the bleachers to watch the Tara Et Bran did it & so can you! The new bride and groom signed their papers in the penalty box, chuckled Morgan. The wedding business provides the income to operate a free counselling service. The Pastoral Centre councils hundreds of people at no change, through life changes. Weddings are also on a sliding fee scale depending on what the bride and groom can afford, even if that is a 50 pound bag of potatoes. He marries almost half of the couples from Monday to Friday. Approximately 30 per cent of the weddings are civil weddings. All Faiths Pastoral Centre conducts weddings for people who don't attend a particular church or have a minister but wish a minister to perform their service, said Morgan. Morgan also performs many civil weddings. Justices of the Peace don't perform weddings anymore so the pastoral centre fills that gap, said Morgan. Over the years Morgan has seen many trends developing around marriage and weddings. August has taken over June for the top month to get married in. Weddings are also smaller and couples aren't going into debt for their wedding day so they are starting off their marriage in a better financial position, said Morgan. Ninety per cent of the people that are married want an outside wedding in a nice setting. Most people are married outside but Morgan makes sure to remind them that a backup location is needed. He marries many people rf4, 394 Huron St., GODERICH 524-5555 8 Wellington ., EXETER St 235'.388 in Stratford at the Shakespearean Gardens and Tom Patterson Island. Another popular outdoor location is the green area right on the beach just before the Rotary Cove entrance in Goderich. There's a lot of engagements that take place over Christmas and New Year's Eve. He thought there would be a lot of bookings in the year 2000 but there were actually more weddings in 2001 than 2000. They are still booking like crazy for the year 2002. On average most people book three months in advance. There is no recession here and people don't seem to think about that when they get married, said Morgan. During July and August, Morgan will do 10 weddings in one day. September is getting to be a busier month for weddings, he said. May is one of the off - months for weddings and June isn't as popular as it used to be, he said. People that come here don't want a big wedding or to spend lots of money. Not many couples write their own vows, said Morgan. "I think we're doing the right thing. Our main obligation is to make a happy day for them," he said flipping through a book full of thank you notes. "The greatest thing about this job is meeting so many wonderful people. I've never seen any uptight people. It's a great experience. It's the greatest job in the world making people happy," he said.
