In the 'United church on Sunday
morning last Mr. J. M. Connor, of
London, 'preached in the interest of
prohibition union.. A collection was
taken up in the interest of the pro-
hibition work. In the evening the
pastor, Rev. A. Sinclair, occupied,
his own pulpit.
The Odd Fellows, of :Hensel).Lodge intend malting some' fine im-
provements to the interior of their
lodge room in the way of redecor-
ating, They will likely soon hold a
decoration service' for the decorat-
ing* of the graves of deceased broth-
ers and sister Rebekahs.
The League meeting of the Unit-
ed church was held on Thursday
evening* last. The meeting was in
charge of Miss Ellie with Rev. Mr.
Sinclair ,presiding. The topic was
very ably given by Mr. Elgin Row -
Cliffe. ; A solo by'Mrs.. tee Redden
and an; instrumental by Miss Mar-

in poor health for some time and re-
quiring the services . of a nurse,
brought his nurse along with him,
she driving the' car. On Sunday
afternoon while going•up to visit an-
other sister, Mrs. Donald Park,; ac-
companied by Mrs. Carmicheal and
Miss Nellie Carmicheal, the driver
didn't turn into the Parks gate
quick enough and ran into the post
and damaged the • car and gave the
occupants of the car ,a bad shaking

The ; meeting of the Young
People's League of > the United
chuch was held on Monday' evening.
The meeting was in charge of Mrs.
E. Murdock, with the president Miss
Viola Higgins presiding. The meet-
ing was opened by the singing of a
hymn after which ch sentence prayers
were "given,• followed by the scrip-
ture lesson. A violin selection by
Glenn Slavin accompanied by Miss
Greta Lammie on the piano, a solo
by Mr. Sam. Rennie and an instru-
mental by Mrs. Hoggarth were all
greatly enjoyed.
The Salvation Army held 'a mass
meeting. in the Town Hall ,on Sun-
day afternoon last when the large
hall was filled and an exceedingly
interesting and pofitable meeting
held. Postmaster-je G. Sutherland
acted as chairman and in a ;few re-
marks spoke of the far-reaching
work ofthe army'. A splendid sac-
red concert was held and the follow-
ing numbers were given: Solos by
Mrs. J. W. \Bonthron, Mrs. `L. Red-
den and Sm'l Rennie; violin solo by
Miss Greta Laminie accompanied by
Mise Eleanor Fisher; cornet solos
by Bandsmen Hurd and Dix and a
duett by Mrs. Thos. Simpson and
Mrs. E. Drummond. The principal
item on the program was the force-
ful and inspiring address "The Light
That Never Failed" by Command -
Hurd. Reeve Geiger gave a few
closing remarks.

A very pretty wedding was quiet-
ly solemnized in St. Jude's church
•
on Thursday afternoon when Miss
Jennie Walters of Brantford was un-
ited in the holy bonds of matrimony
to Mr. Seymour Peppier, Hensall,
Rev: Rural Dean, J. , N. H. Milts of-
ficiating. The bride' looked very
charming gowned in peach georget-
te, and wearing hat to match. Miss
Isobel Walters, Guelph, sister df the
bride, acted as bridesmaid, and wore
a mauve gown. The bride carried
roses and lily of the valley, while
her attendant's bouquet was of ros-
es and sweet peas. Mr. Harold Hop-
kins, London, assisted the groom.
Mrs. Fair officiated at ,the organ
for the playing of the wedding
march, and while Miss Florence Kef-
fer sang, "0 Perfect Love" during
the signing ,of the ° register. The
"happy couple left immediately after
the ceremony for .a honeymoon in

T1IJi LATE J. B. DINSDALE
There passed away in Hensall on
Friday last Mr. John Bruce Dins -
dale in his 68th year. Death came
as a release as the deceased had been
a great sufferer from rheumatism
for the past seventeen years. He'
was born in Stanley Township and
lived there until the family moved
to Hensall some ,fifteen years ago.
For the past ten years he has prac-
tically been confined to .. the house.
In spite of his sufferings he main-
tained a cheerful spirit and compan-
ionship with him: was a pleasure.
Those who knew him best learned to
love him for his stiriing qualities.
He `was a well-read man, taking a
deep interest in public affairs and
was broad in his views. In 1884 he
married Miss Mariah Butt, who with
four daughters mourn the loss of a
loving husband and father. The
daughters are; Mrs. Vincent Wood
and Mrs. Harold CaIlth, of Santa
Barbara, California, the latter hay-
ing, spent the past couple of -months
here; Mrs. Fred Simmons, at home
and Mrs. Roy Vermillyea, of Toron-
to. One daughter, Martha Arnold,
died some 20 years ago. Mrs. Geo.
Petty, of Hensall and Robt. Dinsdale
of Kippen, are sister ,and• brother.
Mr. Dinsdale will be sadly missed
in his ti home by °e his wife and
daughters, who waited - on him so
long and faithfully, ; and, also by. a
large circle of friends ,w•ho, knew
him intimately; The funeral which
took place from his home on Mon -
clay afternoon, was one .of the larg-
est seen in this district kr years,
and was conducted by Rev, A. Sin-
clair assisted by Rev, Mr. Ndylor.
Interment took place at the Hensall
Union cemetry;'

suffered a stroke, and despite the

the deceased, Messrs. Geo. Douglas,

Heide David Tough, of Brueefield;
John Manson, of. Blake; Dr. Shellac,
of Detroit, and Alex. Sparks, of
Seaforth. The floral tributes were"
beautiful comprising the following

from her brothers and sisters; a
spray from the Women's Missionary
Society of the United church; a
spray from the firm of Dodge Bros,
of Detroit, where her son Neil holds
a good office position; a spray . from
the family of Mrs: Jas. McDonald, of
Detroit; a spray' from Dr. Shellac
and family, of Detroit The funeral
on Friday was largely attended. Be
sides her many friends in the village
and old neighbors and friends from
the Township of Stanley there at-
tended Dr. shellac and wife and
Mrs. (Dr.) Kemp, of Detroit. Mr.
Sparks and family have the sym-
pathy of the whole community in
this their hour of sad bereavement.

The funeral of Mrs. R. D. Murdock
who died in her 69th year after a
long illness, was held from her resi-
dence on June 4th, and was largely
attended. The services Were con-
ducted by Rev. C. G. Armour, pas-
tor of the United church, of which
deceased was a member, and inter-
went made in Baird's cemetery. The
late Mrs. Murdock resided here for
maw; years. She took a deep in-
terest in church matters and mission
work and for a Iong time acted as
secretary of the W.F.M.S. She is
survived by her husband, two dau h-
ters, and one son; Mrs. Wm. c -
Kenzie of Stanley Township; Jean
at home, and Andrew of Detroit. e.

DEATH OF DIRS. DANIEL
TRUEIVINER
The community was shocked on
Thursday morning when it was
learned that Mrs. Daniel Truemner
had passed away quite suddenly
while in the garden from heart fail-
ures. She leaves her bereaved hus-
band and one son, Fred Quacken-
bush to mourn her loss. Mrs. Truem-
ner reached the aged of 54 years, 8
months and 13 days._ The funeral
was held on Sunday afternoon to the
Bronson line cemetery, Rev. F. B.
Meyer officiating.
