Halloween celebrated
in style by students at
St. Columban School
St. Columban
The residents of St.
Columban experienced some
rather strange visitors on
Halloween ghosts. Goblins,
ghouls, vampires,
Targe and small
witches, hillbillies,
ladybugs, Cruella
Deville and one of
her Dalmatian
puppies to name a
few.
The highlight of
the evening was a
surprise visit by the
• cast of the "Wizard
of Oz". Dorothy,
complete with red
shoes, and her
,friends, including the lion,
tin man and scarecrow,
were not "trick or treating,"
but collecting food for the
local food bank. They
collected six boxes of food
as well as some monetary
donations.
The students of St.
Columban School also
' celebrated Halloween in
style. While the Grade 4/5
classes participated in fun
activities, the Grade 6/7/8
classes enjoyed a dance.
Everyone was in costume
and were judged by •
members of the Student
Council. Awards were given
out for the special categories
of costumes.
Winners in the funniest
category included: Shawnee
Ryan, Carolyn Murray,
Martine Sweet, Janelle
Verhoeve, Connor Maloney
and Steven Feeney. The
scariest costumes were those
of Alex Wolfe, Josh Shea,
Alex Murray, Ron varf der
Burgt, Brad Van Moorsel
and Stacey Van Roessel. The
most unique costumes
belonged to Robyn Maloney,
Deklan Cronin, Scott Van
Roessel, Laura Dekroon,
James McCreight, Joe
O'Rourke and Brett
O'Reilly.
Elisabeth Klaver has
returned from a recent five-
week visit to
Holland. She
enjoyed the family
time visiting with
her brothers and
sisters. It was the
first time in 52
years that her
family, consisting of
seven girls and
three boys, could be
all together for a
family picture.
Dafydd
Steffan Cronin, son
of David and Carole -
Michelle Cronin, as
welcomed with love by the
St. Columban parish family
and community as he
recently received the
Sacrament of Baptism.
Father Tony Daniels
baptized Dafydd as he was
surrounded by family and
friends. His godparents were
Catherinanne and Reverend
Kevin George.
Attending the ceremony,
and visiting afterward with
David, Carole -Michelle and
Dafydd were: Cecilia -Anne
and Michael Foltz; Mike and
Patty Foltz, Mikaela and
Austin; Dorothy -Jeanne
Foltz; Elizabeth -Anne Foltz;
all of London; Catherinanne
and Rev. Kevin George,
Windsor; Christine -Marie
and Shawn Middleton,
