Centenaires beat first -place Lancers
and then lose to Parkhill Saturday
After a disappointing weekend last week, dropping games
in Exeter and Mt. Brydges, the Seaforth Centenaires
responded Friday with a big win over the first place Lambeth
Lancers.
Rookie Josh Demo got the Cents on the board on the
powerplay in the final minute of the first as he got hold of a
rebound and slid it under a sprawling Lancer goalie.
Midway thru the second, Jeff MacCuspey dug a puck from
the corner on a forecheck and found Matt Roberts open in the
slot for a 2-0 Cents lead.
With 14 seconds remaining in the period, it was MacCuspey

Senior Shuffleboard
continues at the Seaforth and
District Community Centres
every Wednesday from 1:30
to 4 p.m. No results are
available as last week's
shuffleboard was cancelled.

department is now accepting
nominations for the annual
Citizenship Awards for
Seaforth and Area.
This volunteer recognition
is presented to three valuable
citizens in three different
categories - Service to
Sports, Civic Service and
Humanitarian Service.
The awards are chosen
based on the person's
contribution to the
community in a volunteer
capacity. If you know -

Curling Club celebrating
125th anniverary
The Seaforth Curling Club
will be celebrating its 125th
anniversary this year and
they invite you to come help
them celebrate the occasion.
On Saturday, Nov. 17 at 1
p.m., come out and look at
memorabilia, enjoy cake and
refreshments as well as hot
beef on a bun and home
made soup.
Browse and reminisce or
enter a team in the
anniversary bonspiel - no
charge, four ends, veterans,
rookies, corn brooms and
kilts welcome. If you wish to
enter a team in the bonspiel

begins Nov. 5
The Vanastra Curling Club
invites you to try curling
beginning Nov. 5.
Men play on Monday
evenings at 7 and 9 p.m.,
ladies curl on Tuesdays at 7
p.m., competitive curling is
held on Wednesdays at 7
p.m., juniors play on
Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. and
Friday is mixed curling at 7
and 9 p.m.

evening, playing to a full
house.

a fresh carnation corsage in
recognition of their
birthday.
As always family and

worship at the Tuesday
church service with Belva
Fuss as volunteer pianist.
Residents appreciated her
beautiful solo rendition of

Hensall United Church
Women provided assistance
and prizes for bingo on
Monday afternoon.
Residents certainly look
forward to their Monday
bingo games.
Wednesday was a busy
evening at Queensway
when health and safety
committee hosted a
"personal safety" in-
service, led by Jeff Balsdon
at 6 p.m. and then at 7 p.m.,
the "seniors information
evening" took place.

women, attending church
with Pastor Elly Van
Bergen leading the service
and shopping at Geri
Fashions.

personal shopping volunteer
Edna Dietz, who was in to
assist several residents with
their purchases.

entertained in the
retirement home lounge for
Friendship Friday. It was
great to have visitors join in
the fun.

from Chris Longstaff for a three goal lead.
Steve Henderson, Bill Bradley and MacCuspey again
scored third period markers as the Cents went on to a 6-0 win.
Luke Vick, Greg McGrath and Scott Henderson also had
assists in the win while goalie David Stonely recorded the
shutout.
"A team effort tonight," praised coach Jason Papple.
"Everyone chipped in and did their jobs. We got goals from
every line."
As good as the game was for the Centenaires, they did
suffer a serious blow as Mike Murray went down with a knee
injury. Hid status is uncertain.
Saturday, the Cents were unable to keep up their enthusiasm
as they lost an unspirited game in Parkhill. Tim McClure had
the only goal in the 4-1 loss.
Friday night the Cents host Mitchell.
