Kathy Devereaux, of Seaforth, was
recently signed to the University of
Wisconsin's women's hockey team.
Devereaux, a forward, will attend
Wisconsin at the start of the fall, 2001
semester.
A 5-6 left-handed transfer, Devereaux joins
the Badgers after playing for Oval X-Treme
for four years as a member of the University
of Calgary's women's team. She served the
Dinosaurs, on of the top college teams in
Canada as an assistant captain.
A member of the 2000 Under -22 Canadian

with the London Devilettes before her stint
with Calgary. She was a member of the
Stratford Aces from Grades 9-11 and
competed for Team Ontario alongside current

Canadian Winter Games in 1997 and helped
the team to a silver medal.

at the event in the last four years.

add depth to our offense. I am looking
forward to her coming in as an impact player,
because of her skill and her maturity," says
head coach Tina Bourget.

Seaforth lawnbowlers active
in out-of-town tournaments
Seaforth lawn
bowlers have
been active in
out-of-town
tournaments this past week.
On Wednesday, Lee Ryan and Carol Carter
captured first prize in the Lorne Webb
Memorial Tournament in Goderich.
At Southampton on Wednesday, Jack and
Marie Muir won three games and placed
third.
Friday two men's pairs teams were in
Ingersoll bowling in their second annual
tournament.
Saturday in Clinton sponsored by Clinton
Raceway, Lee Ryan and Carol Carter were
high two -game winners. Jack and Marie Muir
also won seventh prize.
Although our bowling greens could have
been mistaken for a lake on Sunday
afternoon, the Mitchell Club was able to hold
its annual Wm. Ducklou Memorial
Tournament. Bowling in Mitchell were Jack
and Marie Muir who won fifth and Lee Ryan
Seaforth Lawnbowling News
and Carol Carter
who placed ninth.
The heavy rain did
not reach there until
evening.
A social evening was held at the Seaforth
Greens on Friday evening for new bowlers
hosted by Carol Carter. Sixteen new bowlers
enjoyed trying the game of lawn bowls.
Members will be busy this week preparing
for the Anniversary Art Finlayson Memorial
Tournament on Wednesday. There will be
well over 100 bowlers competing, weather
permitting.
It is with regret I report the sudden passing
of one of our active members, Thelma
Coombs. Thelma has been a longtime
member and loved the game of lawn bowls.
Last week she bowled Tuesday evening
and Friday afternoon and was looking
forward to bowling on Wednesdayin the big
tournament. She will be greatly missed in
many circles and our sympathy goes out to
her family at this time.
