Two people offer trikes to replace Harold Coleman's missing one By Scott Hilgendorff Expositor Editor Two people have come forward offering trikes for Harold Coleman to use. Coleman, 89, had his large-sized trike stolen July 29 while he was eating dinner at Sparky's Restaurant. Police have been looking for the trike and the public has been asked to keep their eyes open for it in hopes of ,recovering the vehicle that offers much independence to Coleman. Coleman has difficulty walking but can get around quite well on the trike which also has a large basket for carrying items like groceries. "If they haven't found it now, it probably won't show up until spring," said Coleman's grandson, Kevin, who has spent time looking around the area for the trike. Since the trike does not have the same kind of value as a sport bike, it is believed someone took it for a joyride and abandoned it, possibly in a ditch or field somewhere. Coleman believes when the high grass is killed off in the winter, the trike will turn up in the spring. Meanwhile, he said he and his grandfather have decided to wait until the end of the week before accepting one of the trikes that has been offered to him to use, hesitant to take one until they are certain his trike is not going to turn up. A woman from Lucknow and another woman from McKillop have offered trikes for Coleman to use. The McKillop woman did not wish to be identified but said, "I'd be very happy to give it to them." "I felt so badly when I read it. It was such a nasty thing to do," said said of the recent article in The Expositor about the theft. Her trike was bought for her by her husband when they travelled to Florida and she said it was wonderful to use to get around, often taking it through a Florida park. Her husband has since passed away and she said the trike now sits in the garage, occasionally being used by her grandchildren for fun in the driveway but otherwise not getting much use.
