McElwain Hockey School
goes from Aug. 12 to 24
Senior Shuffleboard is held
Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 4
p.m. at the Seaforth and District
Community Centres.
Last week's winners were:

Men: Cor DeCorte - 367, Harry

Please note: There will be no shuffleboard
today or next week (Aug. 22) due to the
annual hockey school.
McLlwain Hockey School
The annual Dave McLlwain Hockey
School will be held at the Seaforth and
District Community Centres from Aug. 12 -
24.
Included with the school is the annual
summer showcase hockey game featuring the
hockey school instructors as well as area
professional and junior hockey players.
The hockey game will be held on
Thursday, Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the
Seaforth and District Community Centres.
Proceeds from the game will go towards
Seaforth and District Minor Hockey.

Terry Fox Run
The Annual Terry Fox Run will be held on
Sunday, Sept. 16.
Seaforth's run will begin at the Seaforth
and District Community Centres and the site
will be open between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
All participants are asked to register ands
begin the event before 1:30 p.m.
Last year Seaforth and area residents raised
over $5,200 which was our best year to date
(since 1982). All proceeds from the Terry
Fox Run will go towards cancer research and
to date close to $300 million has been raised
worldwide.
Pledge sheets will be available throughout
town, pick one up, collect some pledges and
we will see you on Sept: 16.
Etue Tournament is held
despite extremely hot day
The Seaforth
Lawn Bowling
Club held its
annual Etue
Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club
Tournament at the Seaforth Greens Aug. 5
with extremely hot weather prevailing.
First place went to Bill and Abby Graham,
of St. Marys. Second was Dennis and Shirley
Schmidt, of Goderich, third place went to
Lionel and Wilma Young, of Southampton,
fourth was Glen and Glennis .Keene, of
Stratford, sixth was Gar Baker and Eileen
Adamson, also of Seaforth and consolation
went to Dorothy Mero and Robert Lee, of
Goderich.
Due to last week's extremely high
temperatures many tournaments in the
district were cancelled.
On Aug. 22, Seaforth will be hosting its
largest tournament of the year, the
Anniversary and Art Finlayson Memorial
Tournament. Members are asked to donate a
prize as in former years and prizes are to be
left at Fred and Betty Tilley's home by Aug.
17 if possible.
A cleaning bee is being held at the
clubhouse on
Aug. 20 at 9 a.m.
and all help will
be appreciated.
To date, more than 60 entries have been
received and a hot supper at 4:30 p.m. and 6
p.m. will be served. Betty Tilley and Carol
Carter are food convenors and with
everyone's support and the weatherman
cooperating, there will be more than 100
bowlers on the greens from many parts of
Ontario.
At Clinton Men's Pairs on Aug. 1, Fred
Tilley and Erich Matzold won second prize,
Jack Muir and Bob Doig came third while
Neil Beuerman and Jim Stotts took the
consolation prize.
We are sorry to report Bob Doig had the
misfortune to fracture his leg and will be
confined to hospital for some time.
Jack and Marie Muir won fourth prize at
Lucknow mixed pairs on Aug. 12. St. Marys
also had a tournament on Sunday.
Cliff and Edna Waddington are enjoying a
trip to the west to visit family members.

Dublin mourns Lou Rowland
The Dublin
area is saddened
by the death of
Louis Michael
Dublin
(Lou) Rowland,who died on
Aug. 8 at his residence in
Dublin.
Lou has been active in
many ways in the community
- taking part as a reader at St.
Patrick's Church,
entertaining at Rest Homes
in Seaforth and Mitchell with
his musical talent and
working as a truck driver. He
was a wonderful father and
grandfather.
Funeral service was held at
St. Patrick's Roman Catholic
Church, Dublin, on Aug. 13
with Father Maurice
Charbonneau officiating.
Sympathy is also extended
to the family of Aaron Smith,
nephew of Tom and Eileen
Sloan and Jim and Jean
Maloney who died recently.
Happy Birthday to Paul
O'Rourke, Dublin who
celebrates Aug. 15.
