Pictured above and at left, members of the Seaforth area 30 Something team play against the Glory Girls from the Kinburn and Goderich area. Seaforth teams on top at annual tournament Seaforth Lawn Bowling Greens saw eleven Lawn bowling At Lucknow, July 14 they won first place in greens in play on Wednesday at the annual Etue Tournament. Seaforth teams took first and second prizes at this tournament. First prize went to Lee ,Ryan and Carol Carter. Second place was Fred Tilley and Mary Finlayson. Third was Kevin and Janet Rumig of Goderich. Fourth went to Bill Baxter and Maureen Thompson of London Fairmont. Fifth was Paul and Joanne Bugler of Exeter and sixth went to Moe Cosyn and partner of Woodstock. Seventh was Jorgen Fessler of London Fairmont and Diane Terry of London Thistle. Consolation prize went to Lloyd Eisler and Thelma Coombs. Coach's comment: Finlayson family provides scoring for locals. Second Division July 3 St. Columban 2 @ London Portugese 0 St. Columban goals: Cathy Gyre, Jo -Anne Terpstra. Coach's comments: Local squad dominates from start to finish. Encouraging effort from all team members. Katrina Belfour sets up two goals by Gyre and Tcrpstra tolead team to victory. June 17 Woodstock 2 @ St. Columban 3 Friday evening the 13th saw optional singles being played at the Seaforth Club with sixteen entries. This year the men outbowled the ladies as the men took all the prizes. Presenting the prizes was Cindy Engel on behalf of Cooper Standard, Mitchell. 1st went to Jack Muir, second place to Fred Tilley, third place to Steve Hook and fourth place went to Lee Ryan. Fifth place was Dennis Schmidt of Goderich and sixth went to Bob Johnston of Woodstock. Consolation prize went to Neil Beuerman. Everyone was then treated to cake and ice cream, courtesy of Neil and Donna Beuerman. Jack and Marie Muir have been very successful in out of town tournaments. mixed pairs. Friday, July 6 they won 2nd at a St. Marys tournament and at Brussels, July 5 they won the consolation prize. There are several men's tournaments in the districts this week and Sunday, July 22 will be a M.P.-L.P. tournament at the Seaforth greens at 1 p.m. sponsored by Fred and Betty Tilley. Congratulations go to Andrea Weigund of Exeter for winning the Provincial District ladies singles championship. Also to Jamie McClellen of St. Marys who won the mens. They will now go to Ottawa for Ontario finals July 28 and 29. Both Andrea and Jamie are competing from District 4. Mary Finlayson St. Columban goals: Danielle Kistner, Mary Finlayson, Michelle Elliott. Coach's comments: Very competitive and exciting match at local pitch. Woodstock came expecting an easy victory but were suprised by locals' talent and team effort. Next game: Junc 25 at 7 p.m. as St. Columban travels to Strathroy. Recreation • preview Seaforth Minor Sports CAuncil will he hosting its final Doubles Bingo of this year on Monday, July 30, 2001. Be sure to attend at thc Seaforth and District Community Centres with games beginning at 7:15 p.m. and doors opening at 5:30 p.m. All regular game prize money will he doubled and thc Atom 11 July 12 St. Columban 7 @ Kintora 4 St. Columban goals: Justin Arts 4, Michael Pletsch, Carolyn Murray, Joshua Shea.
