Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club Wednesday was men's pairs with I I greens in play. Winners were as follows: first, Brian Fowler and Chuck Townsend of London Fairmont; second, Wayne Wright of Chesley bowling with Jack Ross of Stratford; third, Bob Thomson and Harold Knight of Exeter; fourth, Harry Urqhuart and Bud Bidwell of Woodstock; fifth, Norm Welsh and Ron Jones of London Fairmont; sixth, Jorgen Fessler and Dave Gray of Exeter Club; seventh, Carl Thiel and Al Badley of Elmira. Consolation prize went to St. Marys, Lou Cundari and Reg Near. Thursday was ladies pairs (The Mel and Esther Brady Memorial Tournament) and although the temperature was in the 30s they did bowl three games. One team had to stop at the end of the second game due to the heat. First was Jean Shillington and Nell Thompson of Clinton; second, Jane Hogg and Audrey McKinley, Clinton; third, Ursel Buckholz and Audrey Duncombe, London Elmwood; fourth, Jean MacKay and Audrey Burrows, Mt. Forest; fifth, Sandra Jarmain and Deanna Palmer, Thamesford, sixth Delphine Dewar and Maxine Hunking, Atwood (Consolation). Lawn bowling is often a family game as the two latter teams mentioned are both sister duos. Wednesday evening saw a number of new people out to the Open House at the club. Bowling in Provincial Fours on Saturday and Sunday the ladies team from District 4 placed third this year. Last year they won the Canadian Championship.
