The wage for picking grapes is $3.50 per big basket. Several of the Confirmation study groups have. been visiting with the residents at the Manor in Seaforth and Ritz Villa in Mitchell. Anne, Dianne, Heather and Melissa Murray; Denise and Maureen McClure; Traci Ducharme and Kendal Runstadler visited the Manor bearing flowers and cookies they made themselves. Mary Ryan, Dianne Cronin, Joseph Flanagan and Derek Fuhr played Bingo and visited with the residents at the Manor. Frank Verberne, Jayne Van Bakel, Ellery Swinkles, Linda Verberne, Anne Visser, Tara Rose and Matt McClure visited at the Ritz Villa. The young people enjoyed the visits with the seniors. The students at St. Columban School enjoyed a visit from poet Robert Priest. By Mary C. Ryan 345-2560 He visited classrooms then met with them in the gym where he read some of 'his poetry and sang songs. The St. Columban School girls and boys basketball teams have been busy this past week. The teams are comprised of students from grade 7 and 8. The girls' team is coached by Mr. Haid while the boys' teams is coached by Ms. Rau. Both teams won at the Zone Tournament in Stratford and will advance to the upcoming system finals. The boys' basketball team also participated in an invitational tournament this past weekend. Their first game was played Friday at Jeanne Sauve School where they suffered a 28-26 Toss to King Lear School. Saturday saw them in action again for the "B" finals held at St. Michael where they won over Hesson 42-11 and won the "B" final with a two point win (27-25) over St. Ambrose. Long-term resident celebrates her iooth birthday Queensway Nursing Horne Edna Stewart, long term resident of Queensway Retirement Home celebrated her IOOth birthday on Thursday when family and friends joined her in the lounge. Flowers, balloons, pictures, cards, best wishes and great music by Carol LeBeau, along with delicious birthday cake, completed the afternoon. Bingo, with Hensall Presbyterian Women supplying assistance and prizes, kept everyone busy Monday afternoon. Church, with Pastor Elly Van Bergen leading worship and Belva Fuss as volunteer pianist, was well -attended Thesday afternoon. Residents were pleased with all the volunteer herp Wednesday afternoon when Kay Mock was in for scrabble and Lorraine Brock and Marg Cole each had a table of euchre going. Volunteer Edna Dietz provided able assistance Friday evening in the retirement home lounge at the Friendship Friday program with entertainment by Carol LeBeau and Bill Pepper. Also on Friday Edna Caldwell's family joined her for a special birthday supper celebrating her 95th birthday. Coming events: April 26 at 6 p.m. Senior Diners; 7 p.m. Birthday party with Lorne McKenzie entertaining; May 3 at 2 p.m. Nashville Rejects; May 4 at 7 p.m. Friendship Friday with Clare, Andy and Bob.
