Get well wishes are extended to Florence Elliott who is in the hospital. Our April birthdays are Sam McClure, April 1, Antje Veldhuis, April 23, and John Powell, April 23. Happy Birthday to you and many more. We had a busy month in March. We would like to thank Geri Fashions for the great fashion show in March. Models were Kate Aslin, Agnes McClinchey, Jody Brown, Pearl James and Joanna Verberne. Jim Delaney's band performed for our St. Patrick's Day Pub Night. There were many compliments on the great entertainment. Vicki Dalrymple continues to cook our brunches once a month on Sundays for our residents. This is always a special treat and is very much enjoyed. We held a "Chase Away the Winter Blues" Dinner and Dance. The meal, prepared by our dietary staff was delicious. The dance afterward was a success with some great music played by the Swinging Seniors Band. Coming events: April 17, 7 p.m. Spring Fling with Huron Strings; April 24, 1 p.m. Euchre Party; April 27, foot care day with appointment. Ladies' Auxiliary celebrates 49th anniversary with dinner April 8, six members of Branch 156 were Seaforth Legion News in attendance at the District C Spring Convention in Owen Sound. Don Young of Stratford was installed as District C Commander and Eric Ross of Brussels as Deputy District Commander. Installations were conducted by Jack Foost, President Provincial command. President, Eva Brown presented on behalf of the Branch 156, cheques for $500 to,the Charitable Foundation and $500 to the Bursary Fund. On behalf of the Auxiliary, $500 was presented to the Bursary Fund. The 54 Branches and Ladies Auxiliaries in the District donated a total of $22,200 to the Charitable Foundation, $38,050 to the Bursary Fund and $19,800 to the District C Hospital Fund. Don't forget to get your tickets for the Duck Race on May 26. The race is at 2 p.m. There will be a Sunday dinner for the public on Mother's Day, May 13. Plan to bring mother out for a delicious dinner. Take outs will be available by calling the branch that day, 527-0740. The executive meeting is on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. The general meeting is April 19. This is the nominations and elections for the officers for the coming year. Come out and elect your choice of officers at 8 p.m. The Ladies' Auxiliary celebrated its 49th anniversary with a pot luck supper last week. A team of four ladies came 5th in the Provincial Ladies Auxiliary euchre tournament. Good work ladies. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them. Fellowship Singers perform at Queensway Sunday service Queensway Nursing Home Residents enjoyed a wonderful Easter -focused service Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with the Fellowship Singers. Several commented that it was nice to actually attend a service on Sunday morning as they had been used to. A time of visiting over warm cinnamon buns and fresh fruit and lemonade took place following the service. Weekly bingos this month are being provided by the Hensal1 Presbyterian Church women. Rev. Vernon Dean of Exeter Pentecostal led worship on Tuesday with Belva Fuss on piano and Marg Cole assisting residents. Breakfast group Wednesday morning was well -attended with fried eggs, sausage and toast, the order of the day. In the afternoon Marg Cole had two tables of euchre enthusiasts competing. Friday evening, Clare Masse, Bob Gilmore and Andy Rau gave their usual fun performance at Friendship Friday in the retirement home lounge. Exercises, games, nianicures and a spring time video also benefited the residents throughout the week. Students participate in Easter trivia contest and chocolate egg hunt SDHS Bear Facts Students have been busy the past month with Seaforth District High School's annual chocolate bar fundraiser. The campaign is now winding down and showing successful results. Congratulations go out to homeroom 9B for selling more cases of chocolate than their goal. Each homeroom will receive points according to how many individual boxes of chocolates students sold. The homeroom racc race is close now. Thc senior homerooms at the top better keep an eye out for the juniors who are attempting to take over the lead. Thc Student's Council hosted a spring barbeque April 7 at Tucker's Mcat Shop. Although the rain and wind seemed to doom the council early in the day, it soon passed and the afternoon was quite pleasant. with many individuals stopping to support the school. This week, students have been participating in Easter activities. An "Easter Trivia Contest" was completed in homerooms for extra points in that competition. A colouring contest is taking place for all students at lunch hour and later in the week, there will be games involving egg noodles, hard boiled eggs and, of course, a traditional chocolate egg hunt.
