Huron Expositor, 2002-03-20, Page 15Sports Cents faced elimination last night in fourth dame against Mt. Brvdires After stunning the Port Stanley Lakers in an intense seven -game series, the Centenaires seem to be out of gas in the Yeck Conference final falling behind three games to none against the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs and facing elimination last night. Wednesday Seaforth fell behind early as a lacklustre effort allowed the Bulldogs to open up a 3-0 first period lead. "We had no jump tonight, no emotion" commented General Manager Dave Parsons. Scott Henderson, Mike Murray and Aaron Parsons added third period tallies but it was -.too little too late as Mt. Brydges held on for 7-3 win. Friday at home, referee Dave Whaley assessed 14 minutes in penalties to the Cents in the first period alone. The Bulldogs capitalized twice and went up 3-0 after the first 20 minutes. BOX 1388 CLINTON NOM 110 OR CALL 482-9914 (evenings) "We're having a tough enough time getting things going but he (the ref) just completely drained us. He never gave us a chance to get into the game," fumed coach Jason Papple. The game was hot and chippy all night and saw the Bulldogs up 4-1 after two periods. In the third period, Josh Holland captured his second goal of the night which set off four series of fights including all 10 skaters and both goalies. Out of the melee Sedforth ended the game short a, player with three men on the bench. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 series lead with the 9-2 win. Sunday in Mt. Brydges, the Cents hoped to get back into the series with a decent effort. The Bulldogs took a 1- 0 lead but the Cents answered back as Scott Henderson, Aaron Parsons and Scott Van Dooren finished a 3 on I play to draw even. A miscue at the Cents' blueline however, sent the Bulldogs on a breakaway later in the period to take a 2- 1 lead after 40 minutes. The Bulldogs opened their lead to 3-1 tipping in a pass from the corner. Seaforth managed to get another as Van Dooren was found open to the side of the Bulldog net and he roofed a wrist shot for his second. Despite some late chances the Cents couldn't tje it up and returned home facing elimination. "We have had trouble in our own end moving the puck and giving man to man coverage and we need to get a lot more pressure on thein on the forecheck," said Papple. "We'll try and respond in game tour." Game 5 if necessary is Wednesday in Mt. Brydges.
