Tuesday, the Cents opened the series in Port Stanley. After a tentative opening period, Seaforth turned up the pace and began to take it to the Lakers. Despite outshooting the Lakers, 21-8 in the second period. However a five-minute major cost the Cents a two goal deficit facing the final frame. Two minutes into the third, Port Stanley took a five- minute penalty of their own and that opened the door for the Cents, as they replied with goals by Aaron Parsons and Justin Riccardi, to draw even. Port Stanley regained the lead freeing a winger up the right side beating Robertson on a backhand blast. In customary style however, the Cents answered right back as Scott Van Dooren slapped in a rebound 30 seconds later to tie the game again. Seaforth pressed but it looked as if the game would head to overtime until a quick pass from AJ Larivee to Scott Henderson found Van Dooren in the slot and he buried the winner with 38 seconds remaining in the game. All told, the Cents outshot the Lakers 45-19 in their first win in Port Stanley in three seasons. Friday night, the squad hoped to build on momentum from game 1 but another nervous first period saw them fall behind 1-0 after 20 minutes. "We seem to play the first period with one hand on our stick and one hand around our own throat," said coach Art Larivee. "Once we get over the nerves and play our game, we're all right." The teams traded second period goals and the Cents began the third down by a goal. Scott Henderson tied the game at two then took the lead for Seaforth as Jeff Maccuspey sent him in the right wing for his third of the game. With six minutes to go in the game, Scott Van Dooren finished a pass from Henderson to open the Cents lead to 4-2. Port Stanley answered back with a power play goal, but again the Cents turned right around 40 seconds later and Jeff Maccuspey went hard to the net and tipped in his first of the series insuring the game for Seaforth. The series heated up in the third period as Seaforth youngsters Josh Holland wrestled with Laker tough guy Dan Fric and Matt Roberts traded shots with another Port Stanley veteran. "The guys are playing with passion right nbw," said coach Jason Papple. "We're having success with grit and hard work." Seaforth's win improved their record to 11-2-0-1 in their last 14 games at home and General Manager Dave Parsons gave accolades to the enthusiasm of Cents fans cheering on the locals.
