The Centenaires ended regular season play two points behind Lucan with 41 points in 40 games. Saturday night saw a shootout in Belmont as nine different players scored goals including JD Nolan and Tim Sills with two each in an 11-6 route of the Bombers. Derek Akey added three assists. The win put Seaforth one point ahead of Exeter for Sunday's match up with the Hawks. A win and the Cents would face Lucan in a first round playoff; a loss and they would see Mt. Brydges. Sunday in Exeter, Seaforth grabbed the first goal as Jake Mavity stepped inside the Hawks' blueline and set a wrist shot towards the goal, foiling the Exeter netminder. • The Exeter power play struck twice to gain the lead for the Hawks before Mark Stanley replied on a Centenaire power play walking into the slot and going five -hole on the Hawks' tender. Exeter jumped out to a two -goal second period lead but Scott Henderson sparked the Cents' comeback breaking away from the pack and tucking home a short-handed tally. A flurry of penalties saw the Cents score three goals in the dying three minutes of the period, including two power play markers. The Cents began the final frame up by a goal and quickly sealed the deal as Scott Van Dooren jumped on a puck off to the side of the Hawks' net, roofing it for his third of the game. Justin Riccardi and Mark Stanley added two more for good measure in the 9-6 win. AJ Larivee had a solid game on defence dishing out several heavy hits through the neutral zone. Scott Henderson captured the McConnell Conference scoring title with his 70th point of the season. Mike Stevenson of Burford topped all Junior D scorers with 109 points. Goalie Chuck Robertson was recognized as a first team All Star. The Cents open playoffs Wednesday in Lucan and return to Seaforth Saturday night for game two.
