Seaforth Bantams lose
Silver Stick championship

By Scott Hilgondorff the first game because they played harder and
better during the rest of the tournament.
"They didn't have their legs," said Weber.
They took on Forest Saturday in the round-
robin play, beating them 3-1.
"It was good. We had about 50 shots on
them. Their goalie kept them in the game," said
Weber.
Seaforth was next up against the Houston
Arrows from Texas, beating them 5-1.
"I didn't think they were too strong. I think
they were the weakest team we played," said
Weber.
That game put Seaforth in the playoffs where
they faced off against Stephen Township who
had beat Seaforth at the regional toumament in
Watford earlier this month.
Seaforth's second place finish in that
tournament saw them reach the International
Silver Stick by invitation but during their
rematch against Stephen Township, they won 9-
3.
Meanwhile, Forest went on to play Wallace
Township in its playoff pool, winning 3-2 in
overtime to come back against Seaforth for that
final game.
"The arena was packed with fans," said
Weber, adding he couldn't hear himself talk the
cheering was so loud by the final game.
"I'm proud of the kids," he said. "I think they
played well enough to be the championship.
team."
Tyler Doig and Greg McGrath were named
all stars in the tournament for their efforts.

The Seaforth Bantams and their fans feel
robbed of what was a very real chance at a
North American Silver Stick win in Forest on
the weekend.
Amid cries of outrage from a Forest arena
filled with hockey fans, spectators watched the
puck hit the back of the net and bounce out
again but a referee missed the shot.
"Even the convener saw it go in," said one of
the team's coaches, Mike Weber, who didn't
actually see it himself.
It was one of two goals called back in the
game that saw the Bantams lose the
championship round 3-2 against the host Forest
team.
Parents behind the net watched the puck hit
the back of the net and say it would have at
least put the team in overtime with a decent
chance of taking the title despite the second
goal being called back.
Weber said the second goal they had taken
away may have come from the refs calling a
two line pass.
Forest scored their winning goal with only
one minute left in the game.
"They gave it everything they've got. I think
they got a little bit robbed," said Weber.
"They played well enough to win."
The toumament opened Friday with Seaforth
up against a Cobden team, defeating them 5-0.
Weber said the team came from the Ottawa
area and the drive may have done them in for
