to its three main committees
By Sarah Caldwoll
Goderich Signal -Star Staff
At the inaugural meeting
of county council on Dec. 5,
committees were formed for
the upcoming year.
There are three main
committees at the county
level, Agriculture, Public
Works and Seniors
Committee which deals with
ambulance issues, the Social
and Cultural Services
Committee and the Health
and Planning Committee.
Each committee meets
before the county council
session to hear presentations
and make recommendations
on how county council
should proceed on the issues
at hand.
The County appoints
county councillors to their
prospective committees.

Diepenbeek, reeve of
Ashfield-Colborne-
Wawanosh, was appointed
the chair of the Agriculture,
Public Works and Seniors
Committee.

Police warning
area business
of counterfeit bels
Although no known bills
have been found in Huron
County yet, OPP are
warning local businesses of
an increased number of
counterfeit bilis in
circulation.
The Royal Bank of
Canada has advised OPP of
a particularly Targe amount
of counterfeit $100 bills on
the streets.
Meanwhile, officers in
Huron County have come
across several counterfeit
$10 and $10 bills recently.
OPP are reminding all
local merchants to
carefully inspect any cash
being received and if they
suspect any to be
counterfeit, to contact
police.
Legitimate bills include
the following
characteristics:
Planchettes, small green
dots randomly placed on
bills will peel off is
scratched without leaving a
hole in the paper and glow
fluorescent in ultraviolet
light.
The ink on real bills on
the numbers, portrait, coat
of arms and vignette of the —
parliament buildings feels
thicker to the touch while a
counterfeit bill remains
smooth.
Real bills have clearer
printing with fine lines in
the hair of figures on the
bills and the eyes and clear
and sharp while . a
counterfeit bill may appear
dull and lifeless.
The colour and tint of
real bills is difficult to
duplicate so a counterfeit's
colour may appear
different when compared to
a real bill. Also, the ink on
a counterfeit bill might
smudge or run while it
won't on a real bill.
