Cents take 6-o win
and suffer 7-o loss
After splitting weekend
games with a 6-0 win over
Parkhill and a 7-0 loss to Mt.
Brydges, the Centenaires
travelled to Lucan
Wednesday looking to gain a
few points on the division -
leading Irish.
Tim McClure grabbed the
lead for Seaforth when left
open in the slot and one
timed a pass from Aaron
Parsons.
Seaforth went up 2-0 off a
power play draw won by
McClure, put to the net by
Parsons and finished off by
Matt Roberts for his fifth of
the year.
A couple of missed
assignments through the
second period saw Lucan
even the score until Scott
Henderson was left open at
the side of the Irish net and
tipped in a rebound to regain
the lead after two periods.
Lucan evened the game
early in the third then took
over the lead on the power
play, but the Cents power
play answered back as Scott
Van Dooren fed a pass to
Henderson who waited for
the Lucan goalie to drop,
then fired a wrist shot top
corner to send the game to
overtime.
The sudden death nearly
went the wrong way when
the Cents defense coughed
up a puck into the slot which
was fired wide by a Lucan
forward. The shot missed the
net, deflected off the dasher
and was picked up by
Henderson who went the
other direction on a 2 on 1
with A.J. Larivee.
Henderson drew the Irish
defense wide and slipped the
pass to Larivee rushing to the
net where he 'tipped in the
dramatic overtime winner.
Midget affiliate Tyler
Elliott of Staffa played his
first game with the Cents on
a line with Jay Baker and
Josh Holland. The line
showed tremendous hustle
pinning Lucan in their own
end for entire shifts.
Seaforth went to Mitchell
Friday losing 7-6 in overtime
then returned home for a pre -
New Year's Eve match
against Mt. Brydges.
The Cents jumped out to
an early 3-0 lead but the
Bulldogs battled back to cut
it to a 3-2 lead after one
period. The visitors tied it up
on a deflection early in the
second but J.D. Nolan
responded beating the Dogs'
netminder on the far side.
A.J. Larivee picked up on
a Bulldog give away to
widen the margin to two
again but Mt. Brydges
responded, capitalizing on a
turnover of their own to keep
within one going into the
third period.
The Bulldogs tied the
game early in the third but
Nolan answered with his
third goal of the game
(fourth of the season), firing
the winner from the slot.
Nolan's performance left
the coaching staff wondering
if Nolan's missing linemate
Tim Sills had been thwarting
Nolan's production this
season and questioned Sills
position in the lineup.
"It was good to see
production from guys that
haven't been scoring" is all
coach Art Larivee had to say
at this point. •
Josh Holland had his
strongest game of the year in
what proved to be a physical
affair with 36 minutes in
penalties the first period
before settling down for only
14 minutes in the second and
third.
The Cents are in
Thamesford Friday and at
home to Lucan on Sunday
night.

Hensall Parks Board receives
significant donation toward

The Hensall Parks Board's air

recently received a significant
donation. Former Hensall resident
Gladys Smith, age 101, contributed to
the fund.
Smith is a descendant of the Petty
family, who founded Htnsall and still
travels to Hensall, when weather
permits. She thought the air
conditioning fund was an imjbrtant
project.
Christmas trees will be collected in
the Village of Hensall, on Tuesday,
Jan. 2, 2001. Trees should be to the
curb by 7 a.m. to ensure collection. No
trees with plastic wrap, or tree bags
will be collected.
The Hensall municipal office is now
officially closed. Residents requiring
information should contact the
