The Hensall and District Horticultural Society held their annual pot -luck supper at Hensall United Church on Nov. 22. The room was decorated in Christmas colours. President Luanne Phair said grace and a bountiful meal was enjoyed. Jeannette Turner and Barb Westlake -Powers won the Christmas Hat Contest. Door prizes were won by Joyce McBeath, Ilene Rannie and Bob Campbell. Marg Hayter donated two exotic plants which were also won by two lucky ladies. Lucielle Beer was in charge of the kitchen. Barb Westlake -Powers conducted a craft project which was greatly enjoyed by all. President Luanne spoke briefly and thanked everyone for their support. We were happy to see members from Varna and Bayfield out to join us for this special supper. By Liz Sangstra Students wear pyjamas and slippers to school Frances Melady recently celebrated her 84th birthday with her family. Faye and Bill Albert celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Nov. 10 with their family, including Linda Albert, Carmen and Robert Kamloops, B.C.; Anne Albert and friend John, London; Denise and Paul Duffy, and Megan, Denfield; Joanne and Martin Minnes, Aaron and Dana, Bright's Grove. The students at St. Columban School enjoyed their recent "Pyjama and Slipper Day." The Grade 5 class was the most outstanding wearing their pyjamas to class. St. Columban This past week, the students of both St. Patrick's and St. Columban Schools held a Bus Evacuation Day in St. Columban. This time was spent in learning how to jump out the side window or the back door of the bus, properly and safely, in the case of an emergency. This coming week, the students brace themselves as their report cards go home. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the family of Mary EIIcn (Mamie) Delaney who died this past week. Her sparkle and zest will be missed by all. By Mary C. Ryan 345-2560 Clinic sending requests to other councils From Pogo 1 Fisher, is also sending letters to neighbouring municipalities to see if they can share the $20,000 and $16,000 costs of the two clinics with Huron East and North Huron. She said they had not considered the possibility of closing Blyth and putting more into Brussels, which is open three half -days a week, and would take council's suggestions back to the doctors at the clinic. •
