Anne was born in Tuckersmith Township in Huron County on July 25, 1906. She was the first of four children born to John and Agnes (McBride) McNay. Anne's early years were spent on the family farm, lot 13 on the sec- ond concession of Tuckersmith, west of Egmondville. She first attended school at S.S. No. 8 in Egmondville until S.S. No. 7, "Hannah's School," located three farms west of the family farm, reopened in 1913. In 1919, mom's schooling continued in Seaforth after her father sold the farm in Tuckersmith and moved into Seaforth for two years prior to pur- chasing another farm in McKillop Township - lot 35 on the third con- cession, at the Hullett/McKillop boundary. Following studies at Shaw's Business School in Hamilton in the late 1920s, Anne was hired as bookkeeper at Stewart Bros. in Seaforth. While employed there, a romance developed with Harry and Matilda Stewart's oldest son and, on June 19, 1940, Anne and Gerald Stewart were married at 'the McNay farm in McKillop Township. Following their marriage, Anne and Gerald moved to Toronto where Gerald was employed with the Robert Simpson Company. Anne and Gerald raised a family of two children, Margaret Lynne and Edward (Ted) Harry. Following Gerald's death, Anne continued to live in Toronto with her son. After breaking her hip in early 1999, Anne required nursing home care. Later that year Ted moved his moth- er to Trillium Court in Kincardine, not far from his summer home at Inverhuron. Anne was nurtured from an early age in the Christian faith at Egmondville Presbyterian Church (United in 1925) where her father was an elder, lay minister and long time Sunday School superintendent. Later, when work- ing at Stewart Bros. she attended Northside United where she sang in the choir. Following their marriage, Anne and Gerald joined Calvin Presbyterian Church In Toronto where Anne remained a member for nearly sixty years until her move to Kincardine. Anne is survived by her loving son Ted, now of Kincardine, and by her two brothers, William of Mississauga and John (Bernice) of Sussex, N.B. She was prede- ceased by her parents John in 1943 and Agnes in 1961, her husband Gerald in 1979, her daughter Lynne in 1970 and her sister Margaret in 1940. Anne was a happy and opti- mistic person throughout her life. She will be remembered as a gen- tle, loving and caring wife and mother who always put the interests of others ahead of her own. Cremation has taken place. the remains will be interred in the fami- ly plot in Maitlandbank Cemetery in Seaforth at 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2001. A memorial service of thanksgiving for the life of Anne McNay Stewart will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton on Saturday, December 1, 2001 at 12 noon with the Rev. Wendy Lampman officiating. 42- 48x1 LEIPER, Ross: of Clinton passed away at Seaforth Community Hospital, on Friday, November 23, 2001 in his 77th year.
