their campaigns in
December but Huron's
campaign continues until
February.
Organizers are hoping
that individuals,
organizations and
businesses will help the
campaign surpass the half-
way mark and later hit the
campaign target.
"We're working and
'struggling to get to our goal
of $225,000," said Dave
Sykes, Campaign Chair.
"We've made a lot of
contacts throughout Huron
County in the last six
weeks."
The campaign benefits
year-long programs, he
said, and the money stays in
Huron County.
Organizers say they
welcome all efforts to raise
funds for the United Way
and its member agencies.
One of the best and
easiest ways to support the
campaign, they say, is
through payroll deduction
programs.
Those individuals who
don't have payroll
deduction plans at work can
support the campaign's
mail -out campaign.
Anyone who needs
information on donating
can phone the United Way
at (519) 482-7643.
"They can phone our
office for brochures if they
don't have brochures," said
LaFontaine.
As well as fundraising,
the United Way is also busy
with the Coats for Kids
program, an effort to
provide winter coats and
other winter wear to
children and adults to keep
them warm this winter.
An open house was held
earlier this month at the
United Way's offices in
Clinton.
Another open house takes
place this Saturday, Dec. 1
from 11 to 2 at the Clinton
office on Highway 4 (at the
old Huronview building,
nextto the Huron County
Health .Unit), so children
and adults can pick up
winter coats.
It is entirely confidential,
said LaFontaine.
More than 2,000 church
bulletins with the United
Way campaign logo have
been sent out to churches in
Huron County for Unitcd
Way Sunday.
