Coats for kids...
Sharon Tefler, a volunteer for the Huron United Way, presents a certificate to Pat Ryan,
president of the residents' council at Seaforth Manor. The Manor was a drop-off location for the
Coats for Kids campaign that collects outgrown or unwanted coats for children and adults to
be distributed to families in need. Six hundred coats were given out last year. People needing
coats can call the United Way at 482-7643 to make an appointment and coats can still be left
at the Seaforth Sewing Centre. Sizes 7-14 for boys are the most needed.
Legion initiates four new
members at general meeting
Stag euchre will
be played on Nov.
28

Dec. 8 is the
turkey dinner. Draws for $100 food voucher
and two $50 vouchers will be held in
conjunction with this event. Tickets are
available at the Branch.
At the general meeting, the initiation
team of Frank Golding, Charles Perkins,
Jim Watson and Pat DeJong, with Sgt. at
Arms Jim Brown and President Eva Brown,
initiated William Brown, Charlene Buxton, ,
Stan Racho and Scott Jervis into
membership.
The Friday evening suppers are starting
again. If you would like to do a supper put
your name on
the list at the
Branch with
date and menu.
Please sign up as soon as possible.
The entries to the poems, essays and
posters contest should be on display at
Seaforth Library by the end of the week.
Drop in and see the outstanding work of our
young students.
The Legion Children's Christmas Party
will be held on Dec. 16. Any child can
appear in the concert to sing, dance, recite
or play an instrument. Santa will also be
there. ,
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will remember them.

Michelle Lynn Shropshall and Derek Leonard Kootstra
were united in marriage at St. Paul's Anglican Church in
Clinton on July 28 with Rev. Robert Hiscox officiating.
Michelle is the daughter of Don and Elaine Shropshall of
Clinton. Derek is, thc son of Richard and Rachel Kootstra
of Clinton. The maid of honour was Brcnnan Crawford
(friend of the hridc). Bridesmaids were Krista Shropshall
(sister of the bride), Andrea Shropshall (sister of the pride),
and Vicki Carter (cousin of thc hridc) and thc junior brides-
maid was 'Alicia Fry (cousin of thc pride). The best man
was Ken Oudman (friend of the groom). The groomsmen
were Rob Kootstra (brother of thc groom), Rick Kootstra
(brother of the groom), and David Shropshall (brother of
thc hridc). Assisting usher was Kevin Varley (cousin of the
bride). The beautiful flowergirl was Kayla Ruston (cousin
of thc hridc) and the handsome ringhcarer was Michael
Rcthcr (nephew of thc groom). The candlelighters were
Chris Fry (aunt of the hridc) and Johanna Rcthcr (sister of
the groom). The readers were Rick Shropshall (uncle) and
Leanne Armstrong (friend). The master of ceremonies for
the evening events was Ray Grcidanus (friend). The couple
now reside at RR5 Clinton.
Horticultural
Society
learns
to make
basket
of greenery
The annual meeting of
the Seaforth and District
Horticultural Society was
held Nov. 14 at Northside
United church.
Forty-four sat down to a
turkey dinner prepared by
the evening unit of the
church.
Betty Hulley introduced
the guest speaker Brenda
Forbes from Flower Magic.
She asked Helen
McNaughton and Elizabeth
Vantol to assist her.
They made a basket filled
with greenery and,
decorated with willow
branches sprayed gold. and
candle holders.
She also told how to
make apple roses.
Brenda was thanked by
Bea Stoll and presented
with a gift certificate.
Pat Rodney took the
chair for the business
portion.
Minutes of the last
meeting were read and
approved nd the treasurer's
report was given.
Rev. Horst reported for
the nominating committee.

Society plans
pot -luck
The Hensall and District
Horticultural Society will
hold their annual pot -luck
supper at Hensall United
Church on Nov. 22 at 6:30
p.m.
Bring your own place
setting, and a glass jar with
lid at least 275m1 in size and
an old sock for a craft
pmject under the direction
of Barbara Wcstlakc-
Powers.
There will be a contest for
the best hat made with a
Christmas motif. Bring one
food dish, your favorite
main course or dessert.
Everyone is welcome for a
night of food and fun.
