MACINNES, Wm. Stuart: Stuart will
be missed by his 3 children: Sharon
and Paul of Ballinafad, Dyke and Jan
of Atwood and Jan and John of
Vancouver. He will be fondly remem-
bered by his five grandchildren
Emmet and Lewis of Vancouver,
Andrew of Ballinafad and Emilee and
Duncan of Atwood and stepdaughter
Jane Austin of Seaforth. Lastly he
will be missed by many in his extend-
ed family. He was predeceased by
his sister, Della. Family was impor-
tant to Stuart. He and his first wife
Ferne built 5 homes in Galt,
Erindale, Walkerton and Waterloo.
He continued with Mildred, his sec-
ond wife to redesign and add on to
their home in Seaforth. Not only did
he build homes but he built relation-
ships with the students he taught
and the teachers he inspired as they
learned how to pass on the joy of
learning. Stuart was raised on a farm
near Ethel and pursued education as
his career. He loved the land and the
beauty of creation. Stuart under-
stood the awe in creation in
Tennyson's poem 'Crossing the Bar'
and in Wordsworth's poem
'Daffodils' As the saying goes 'You
can take the boy from the farm but
you can't take the farm from the boy.'
When he retired he returned to the
land as he pursued farming. He
admitted that he was a "car nut" and
he readily tackled the rebuilding of
old engines, fenders and interiors.
Most importantly he loved the cre-
ator and wherever he lived he served
in the church. Whether as Sunday
School Superintendent, elder or on
the building committee he faithfully
and dutifully served his Lord. Last
year at 85 years old he started
redesigning and building his last '
home. He died peacefully on Oct. 19,
2001, with his family gathered
around. Family and friends were
received at First Presbyterian
Church, Goderich Street West,
Seaforth on Tuesday, October 23, at
12 noon until time of funeral service
at 1 p.m. Contributions to a memori-
al garden appreciated. Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home, 87 Goderich
St. W., Seaforth entrusted with
arrangements. 42-43-1
