Correspondents Residents enjoy Thresher Reunion Grace Dungee came to the Retirement Home to do a Weekenders clothing party. She had a wonderful demonstration. Everett Scrimgeour, Phyllis Maguire, Peg and Cleave Coombs went to the Thresher's Reunion in Blyth on Sept. 7. It was a great day. They saw some wonderful crafts in the arena, they took a ride on the wagon around the grounds, ate lunch in the arena and listened to some great music afterwards. Everyone enjoyed an evening with the Clinton Pipe Band on the front lawn. Elizabeth Foster and Everett Scrimgeour went to Dining for Seniors in Clinton this month. It was nice to see some of their friends in Clinton again. Seaforth Manor Retirement Home The Western Entertainers played for residents this month. Many people were dancing including Phyllis Maguire. Residents went to the Seaforth Fair. They enjoyed watching the parade. Afterwards they went for lunch, which Gladys Doig and Marjorie Willis really enjoyed. Mary Hogg and Harold Coleman enjoyed dining out at the Dining for Seniors program in Seaforth. Luck was with them that day as they both won prizes. Happy Birthday to Amy Harman on Oct. 10 and Elsie Dinsmore on Oct. 29. Wacky hair day sees students with spikes and coloured hair St. Columban The students at St. Columban School enjoyed their "Wacky Hair" Day this past week as several rather creative hair creations made an appearance. Spikes, colours, the use of bingo dabbers, coloured hair spray and even baby powder made for a fun and interesting hair day. A prize was given to the best hair creation in each classroom. Several of the students, including Denise Verberne, Danny Meyers, Stephen Feeney, Christine Kelly, Jeremy Klumper, Amelia Ertel, Laura Scott, Brian Stacey, Hilary Gaffney, Brad Van Morsel and James McCreight, participated in the golf tournament held at the Mitchell Golf Club. The team of Laura Scott and Hilary Gaffney placed first, while the team of James McCreight and Danny Meyers placed second. The students are preparing for the upcoming Pat Cook Run to be held in Stratford, as well as a soccer tournament to include seniors and juniors. Dublin celebrates births Dublin Congratulations to Mark and Joan Murray on the happy -arrival of Josie Madeline, born on Sept. 15. Congratulations to proud grandparents, Maureen and Frank Bruxer, Dublin; and Maddie and Tom Murray, Seaforth. Congratulations to Landan Maurice Richard Templeman, son of Richard and Margaret -Ann (Ryan) Templeman, who received the Sacrament of Baptism in our parish community. Congratulations to Pat and Kim Murray on the happy arrival of Jacob Ronald, born on Aug. 16. Several area young people participated in the COR Retreat Weekend held in Dublin this past weekend. The COR weekend retreat is facilitated for young people between the ages of 18 and 21, giving them the opportunity to come together, meet new friends and reflect on various aspects of their life and their faith. The St. Columban men's soccer team defeated London Marconi 4-2 in a home game Saturday.
