The expanded three-day program, attended by 72 members from across the province, was an excellent opportunity for members to hone their life skills and prepare for career decisions. Rebecca Burton, Wingham, said, "The highlights of the conference were meeting new people and gaining valuable knowledge that will be of great use." "Careermania gave me confidence to make changes in my career and life path. Everyone encouraged me to accept that different paths make us better people", said Jennifer Peart, Haldimand County. 4-H members attending from Huron County were: Rebecca Burton, Wingham; Preston Drennan, Lucknow; Mark McLean, Goderich; Stephanie Munday, Wingham; Erica Murray, Wingham; Candace Procter, Brussels; and Irene Schuttel, Goderich. Hearing guest speakers talk about their education and careers was a highlight for many of the 4-H members. Also popular was participating in a personality evaluation program called "True Colours", designed to assist the youth to better understand themselves and how to work with others. The members also identified their marketable skills, wrote resumes, participated in mock interviews and experienced living in.a university dormitory. As an informal educational program, 4-H helps young people, 10 to 21 years of age, to develop personal skills while learning about a topic of interest to them. Almost 8,000 members and 2,000 volunteers took part in over 1,200 clubs across Ontario last year. To learn more about the 4- H program, visit the web site at www.4-hontario.ca or call the 4-H Ontario office at 1-877-410-6748. .aIP► a. -- .14 UPCOMING DANCE • at the Brodhagen Community . • Centre 8:30 pm -12:30 em • The Blenders Saturday, Sept. 15 For information rail 347-4127 or 347.2731 `I I f ► f.t FR TjRi1t 0,17 % f V 1v 1 -vas.. :: jF 11 ►,i1 r171 1( Wedding Announcement Keyes - Moir 1•; HAPPY 28th BIRTHDAY Jackie Bennewies Forthcoming Marriage E • • / On July 7, 2001, Angela Moir and Scott Keyes were united in marriage on Tom Patterson Island in Stratford.
