forum on racism
St. Columban
Soccer season is here again
and the local fields are filled
almost every night as the
young people play.

DeKroon and their
teammates at St. Michael

Huron -Perth senior
boys soccer
championship and
participated at
OFSAA.
Meaghan O'Reilly

unofficial Huron -
Perth senior girls
soccer championship.
In rec league

recreation team faced
Wingham in a game which
finished with a 2-2 tie. Goals
during the game were scored
by Stephen Ryan and Manny
DeSousa. In a penalty shoot-
out, Adam O'Reilly and
Bruce Griffin each scored to
beat Wingham 2-0. The St.
Columban Women's soccer
team, second division, were
outmatched by Sarnia 5-0 in
a home game played in St.
Columban on Sunday.
Jonathon Elston has

conference held in Quebec
City. It was sponsored by the
United Nations Association
in Canada (UNAC). It was
one of four "Youth Against
Racism" forums being held
for youth in an attempt to
educate youth and discuss
ways to fight racism. There
will be a world conference
next year to be held
in Durban, South
Africa.
T h e

Toronto area where they
visited the Royal Ontario
Museum, Canada's
Wonderland and the
Playdium. The Grade 7 class
went to Sportsworld for their
end of the year trip.
The students also had a
"Super Hero Day" where
such unlikely characters as
"Batman" and "Captain
Underpants" were seen at the
school.

25th anniversary
Dublin
•
John and Margaret
(Crowley) Van Bakel
celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary on June
10.
Following a Mass said by
Father Maurice
Charbonneau, a large crowd
of family, relatives,
neighbours and friends
joined at the Dublin Athletic
Complex for a meal
followed by an enjoyable
afternoon of games,
entertainment and visits with
a great crowd.
Three children received
their First Holy Communion
at St. Patrick's Church
recently: Erica Beuermann,
Matthew Corbett and Natalie
Visser.
Heartfelt sympathy, of the
community is extended to
the family of Norman
Kramers who died at
Seaforth Community
Hospital on June 6.
