Shuffleboard will resume June 13. Last week's results are as follows: Ladies: Ann Van Dooran - 472, Wilma Pennings - 452, and Mary McMillan - 340. Men: Harry Pennings - 307, Ken Preszcator - 289 and Cor DeCorte - 272. Tennis Lessons The Huron East recreation department will once again be offering tennis lessons for youth and adults. Youth beginner will be held on Thursdays from 9 -10:30 a.m. and touth advanced will go from 10:30 - noon also on Thursdays. Registration fee will be $40 for 10 weeks and the lessons begin on June 28. Adult lessons will be held on Wednesdays beginning July 4. Beginners will go from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and advanced will go from 8 - 9:30 p.m. Registration fee for the 10 weeks of lessons will be $50. Registration or information can be obtained by calling the Huron East recreation office at 527-1272. Minor Hockey, Ringette Registration Recreation preview Minor hockey and ringette registration will be held on Wednesday, June 20 and Thursday, June 21 from 7 -9 p.m. at the Seaforth and District Community Centres. Late registration fees will apply after these dates, so be sure to come in and register. For any child registering for ringette the first time as a bunny (age 7 and under), there will be no charge. For more information call Mary Verbeme at 522-0967 or Bill Flanagan at 527-2080. The ringette association is also looking for teenagers who may be interested in making some extra cash by becoming a ringette referee. If you are interested, please call or sign up at registration. The winning foursome were St. Marys entry with (skip) Jamie McClellan, (third) Chris Johnson, (second) Larry McClellan and (lead) Lee Ryan of Goderich and Seaforth. Last year's Canadian championship ladies were present for this year's playdowns but were uncontested, automatically advancing them to the Ontario Championships being held in Toronto June 16 and 17. The ladies team is (skip) Andrea Weigand, Exeter. (third) Joanne Bugler, Exeter, (second) Gloria McFalls, Exeter and (lead) Carol Carter of Seaforth. We wish both rinks well as they compete in the Ontario finals. Seaforth's first tournaments scheduled are The 4441 Van will be in Seaforth men's pairs on June 13 at 10:30 a.m. and ladies pairs (the Mel and Esther Brady Memorial) June 14 at 10:30 a.m. In out-of-town tournaments Fred Tilley and Erich Matzold were at St. Marys last Wednesday in a men's pairs tournament. Looking back at last year's news, this coming week was hot and humid with temperatures on June 10 above 30 degrees celsius. This year so far has been quite a change. Wednesday we hope anyone interested in lawn bowling will remember the club is holding an Open House at 7:30 p.m. for anyone wishing to try the game of lawn bowls. The month of June is free to new bowlers. Seaforth students act in Blyth play Three Seaforth residents are making their acting debut at the Blyth Festival this summer in The Outdoor Donnellys running from June 14 - July 1. Mandy Weber, Heather Rea and Ashley Holmes are offering their talents in the community scenes of The Outdoor Donnellys occuring before the major production scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m. At 6 p.m. the event begins when these actors participate in numerous vignettes around town in which the Donnelly story unfolds. Seaforth District High School student Heather Rea said "being generally interested in the story of the Donnellys" was her motivation to play the role of one of the Lindsay Sisters. Mandy Weber, who plans to major in theatre arts this fall in college, plays the other Lindsay sister who said that participating in The Outdoor Donnellys collective is an "incredible experience."
