HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2001-06-06, Page 13Correspondents Students prepare for Goderich track and field day St. Columbus The family of Jim and Mildred Cronin, formerly of McKillop and St. Columban, hosted an Open House celebration in honour of Jim and Mildred's 45th Wedding Anniversary. Family, relatives and friends gathered at the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Hall in Mitchell for an evening of reunion and visiting. With Jim and Mildred Cronin were their family; Colleen and Derek Gover, Jamie and Sarah; Don and Theresa Cronin, Jackie, Kelly, Dianne and Erin; Bob and Lorrie Cronin, Angie, Jeff, Katie and Greg; Larry and Sherry Cronin and Dawn Marie; Terry and Natalie Cronin, Chyenne, Michaela and Wyatt; Barry and Joanne Cronin, Corey and Dana. The students of St. Columban School have been building up their track and field skills in preparation for the upcoming system track and field day held in Goderich. The divisions include junior, intermediate and senior. The track events include 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1500 metre races. The field events include triple jump, long jump and standing jump, shot put and ball throw. The winners of these events will advance to the system day in Goderich. John and Margaret Van Bakel are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on June 10 with a Mass and following, a celebration at 1 p.m. at Dublin Athletic Complex. Happy Birthday to Jerry Murray (former Mayor of Dublin) who celebrated his asked her little children, 71st birthday on June 3. Administrator Gwen Good artd Director of Care Catherine McClure, with her husband George, were flipping burgers and hot dogs on the barbecues steady from 9:30 a.m on till 1 p.m. Youth volunteers Jenn Timmermans, Elyssa Townsend and her sister Amber also helped in numerous ways throughout the day. With the help of youth volunteers several residents were wheeled around Hensall to observe the activity.
