While the parish of St.
Columban itself was founded
in 1832 and is 169 years old,
May 25 marked the 90th
anniversary of the Dedication
of the present church
building. Parishioners
gathered for coffee, cake and
a social time in the parish
hall to mark the occasion.
Displays of interest included
pictures of the first brick
church which was destroyed
by fire in 1909 and which
was replaced by the present
building.
The ladies of the St.
Columban Catholic Womens
League are busy
preparing for
their annual June
Social which
will be held in the St.
Columban Hall on June 13 at
7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited
to come for an evening of
special draws, bake table,
penny sale and lots of
entertainment.
Students at St. Columban
School participated in a
baseball tournament held
recently in Stratford.
Although the tournament was
shortened by the rain, most
of the six teams participating
managed to play two games
each.
